  2. People on the right hate Moore, in part, because he's smart, clever and knows how to produce incredibly entertaining and successful films.

Do not read that statement as my own personal endorsement of his accuracy. I have a very complicated and fragmented take on Moore.

If you deny that he's talented, you're just not honest or you are in denial.

Anyone that gets people to stand in lines to watch movies about the precursor to a war, the health care system, or who made a movie about the CEO of GM that pretty much put documentary film-making on the Hollywood map is nothing short of a genius.

His movie will tap into the populist rage about Wall Street like nothing else before; no book, news reports...nothing.

He knows how to set them up and knock 'em down, and people will leave the theater looking for a banking exec or hedge fund manager to lynch.

  3. Please don't start this propoganda again!!! It's also doubtful, because what traders do isn't sexy enough.

He is going to cover the worst of the offenders, show corporate excess (think jets, outings, etc), profile executives and how there was no oversight of instutuional activities.

Traders like you and I will play little role in his movie I imagine. He will call for corporate/institutional controls.

  4. People on the right hate Moore because he uses deception bordering on outright lies to make his usually insipid point. That's genius? I suppose one could make a kiddie porn snuff film and capture some box office too.

Further he's disingenuous. In Columbine he poked fun at 'fraidy cats living in gated communities yet he lives in a multi-million dollar Manhattan condo with 24/7 security. A real man of the people. And it's not exactly like his films pack em in. Sicko and Columbine each grossed in the low 20's. Since his movies cost dick to produce that's a nice payday but that would be abysmal for a studio made motion picture. Hence Moore-because he's a Leftest- receives media attention belying his minimal box office appeal.

Not to mention that with what we now know about GM's compensation to workers-Roger And Me is a ridiculous expose'. Moore made a big deal out of Smith's 3mil a year salary yet Moore made more making a movie about Smith's paycheck than Smith himself made. Only in America......

...and the 2 were related , how?

Edit: Wait, I think I got it. Moore although making profitable movies suddenly laid off of his stuff and moved his production company to Mexico, with no Unions. And after this he was still paying himself millions.

    Did I get it right??

  6. Actually, I just hate him because he's a giant, lying, hypocritical asshole. Everything else pales in comparison. I'm not impressed by his ability to put asses in seats at movie theatres and I thought "Roger & Me" was stupid and typical-for-Moore disingenuous. First of all, his last movie bombed and second, Bush got the a majority of Americans in which a greater than average number of Americans voted to vote for him. Are you impressed with Bush for that? I'm not.

BTW, it was the Maysles, not Moore who put documentary film making "on the map". If you want to see what a documentary rather than a propaganda film looks like, watch one of the Maysles' documentaries. And don't bother bashing me for being on the right. I don't appreciate propaganda from either party.

I'm a conservative - I think most of what Pabst says is correct... but I damn glad he makes his movies. His movies bring up points that have to be reviewed. And I fully support his right to make them. Even if he is a big fat money making hypocrit.

If someone's position is not strong enough to overcome the Moore's propaganda... then they may have a problem.

    Lets review -

Moore said thought GM was badly managed

Moore thought Bush was a spoon fed coke snorting dope whose father now takes his orders from Saudi Arabia. He implied if not stated Bush was selling out the American people to his dad's buddies.. see Carlyle (sp) groups board of directors. At least partially correct. Maybe almost entirely.

Moore thinks the health care industry sucks because insurance profits are crowding out effective care. No doubt about it.

To me its a question of whether we want health care run by insurance companies to be our only model. I am not sure I want the gov't running health care... but I do not like paying 1200 a month for a family of 5 for 10,000 a year deductibles either.

Moore lambasted credit card companies... We know the next credit crisis is on its way.

First of all it didn't, and second, what it has to do with anything?

"Sicko was made on a budget of approximately $9 million, and grossed $24.5 million theatrically in the United States. This box office result met the official expectation of The Weinstein Company, which hoped for a gross in line with Bowling for Columbine's $21.5 million US box office gross."

Anyway, this crap should be in Politics...

    For extra credit:

"In 441 theaters, it took in an average of $10,204 per theater, the second highest average gross of the weekend. As of February 24, 2008, Sicko has grossed $24,540,079 in the United States and $11,105,296 in foreign markets. It has been named the third-highest grossing documentary in the USA since 1982 excluding concert movies, reality films, and "large-format" documentaries.

He's not looking for heroes. He's looking for a tool he can use to get some real juicy stuff....to help him make lots of money on his next film. That what it's really about. I hate the manner that he's going about asking for information/help.
