Mexihole making it clear once again who runs the country

  1. This is really a shocking incident that should be getting the attention that is being lavished on the Kurds. Unlike the continuation of centuries old middle eastern disputes, having a failed narco-state on our border is an obvious and massive threat to our national security.

Any rational policy would involve greatly stepped up border security and contingency plans if Mexico falls apart totally. So far, the cartels have been content to run the government from behind the scenes. There are lines that cannot be crossed however, and arresting El Chapo's son apparently was one of them. (We shouldn't be too smug, see Biden, Hunter.)

Stripped down to the basics, what happened here is there was an armed confrontation between the Mexican army and the cartels, and the government waved the white flag. Senior ministers were furious they had not been consulted beforehand, obviously fearing the loss of their cartel stipends.

In fairness, having the cartels control certain American cities, eg LA, SF, might actually result in better government and improved quality of life for the residents.

A drug cartel armed with pickup trucks, rifles and Gucci sneakers forced a surrender from the world's 32nd strongest military in less than a day. This happened just a few hours drive from our country's border... and our politicians STILL don't want to give us a wall!https://twitter.com/Reuters/status/1185318386793943040…

It is thought by some that the northern third of Mexico pretty much amounts to a failed state.

a real country would take advantage of their neighbor's collapse to annex valuable territory, install a puppet regime in the rump state, and use it as a penal colony for their own undesirables but we don't live in a real country so HONK HONK HERE COME INFINITY MEXICAN "REFUGEES".
