I could see him technically resigning if the votes are there to remove him by impeachment. He would resign the day before the vote was taken rather than take the hit. But, otherwise, he is not going to roll over and do an Al Franken departure. Not by a long shot. When was the last time you saw an Italian mob leader do that?
