Bill Cosby made a deal which the prosecutor subsequently violated with the result that Mr. Cosby is free regardless of his freaking obvious guilt. If somebody in the AG's office promised no prosecution in exchange for Cuomo's resignation then its going to be pretty hard to charge him much less successfully prosecute.
At this point the alleged victims are thinking about civil action and cash. Down the road, the criminal cases will be dropped and everyone will cry out that Cuomo got off and the poor victims did not get any justice. Not really though. They will use the criminal action as leverage for a cash settlement. And let us not descend into legal ratholes. I get that those are two separate tracks and the government can still compel them as witnesses if the government has a boner for still prosecuting. As a practical matter though, when the alleged victims assert that they have been substantially made whole or are satisfied by the settlement in the case, the government has other things to do. Cha ching, cha ching.
Looking more likely, US taxpayers will be footing the bill and Andrew Cuomo will get a nice, cushy 6 figure job from a Wallstreet firm with medical, retirement benefits, stock options and become one filthy rich sob. Such is the extreme liberal fairy tales are made of.
New York has sort of a low-life environment there in the governor's office and the behavior of its occupants. With competition from New Jersey. I read that Cuomo is now the nineth new york governor to resign. Holy Shiite. Just remembering Eliot Spitzer is enough. That was a rough one. He dragged his wife out on the stage with him when he resigned and she looked like the wrath of God. Absolutely unforgettable. I suppose she bears some responsibility but she looked dazed and like an ISIS prisoner so I am not going to judge her. She eventually dumped him. Worst governor scumbag in my memory is Mark Sanford announcing that he was in love with his soul mate from Argentina, "and everyone will love her when they get to know her" but that he "was working on falling in love with his wife again because that is what he must do." Man, I would have to scratch my head to think of a guy that far gone in the head- and acting exasperated because his wife did not seem to understand. The guy is lucky he does not live in a country where honor killings are the expectation. Come to think of it, I can't remember whether he actually resigned or just rode it out. I know he is a congressman now, so you never know what some states and citizens will tolerate. Personally, I think he is lucky to be alive. Yeh, I suppose I get that it is a personal matter, not really a public one. Yes, ahh no. He looked fucking insane and gone in the head and told people he was on the Appalachian trail when he was with his soul mate in Argentina.
