  1. I fall into the tall and skinny category with long arms. At 6'4 I weighed 190 (6% bf-caliper tested) and could bench into the low 300's. If we allow going off calculated rep maxes i was at 365 lol but i have never attempted that so i cant claim it. For those talking about doing dumbells, I never did flat dumbell just incline but on incline I wouldn't go over the 95's. Fast forward a year to college and I have tedinitis like crazy in both elbows lol, but I still could lift just had to not go so heavy on my sets, so I now weigh 210 at this point and could hit 225 for 20 reps. Pound for pound I actually got weaker in comparison, but a big part of that is my bf was higher (9%) and I stopped lIfting for strength as much.

But I have to say, my favorite lift in the weight room by far is seated barbell shoulder press. Idk why but I love it. In comparison to most people I think that would be my strongest lift. Nothing like double my body weight or anythig but I could do over my body weight on it and it felt good lol.

Shoulder press and close grip bench I think played a big factor in getting my bench into the 300's I feel like. Anybody wanting to work on their strength there are quite a few methods that can do the trick. My suggestion, BANDS and CHAINS.

Baron, how did you go with your 21st September goal?

I've been using your 6 on 1 off workout plan for couple months now.
Alternating workout A (conventional) with workout B (matrix).

    Working well with nice synergy.
No signs of overtraining or plateauing of results.

Two months being up might switch things for bit of muscle confusion.

How's this for squat technique? Lifting with the ass first (gluts and hams), then finish by straightening the lower back? Tried this last week. Definitely activates the gluts and hams way more than the traditional, vertical-back squat, which I find hits 80% quads/20% gluts/hams. A bit harder on the lower back, tho.

Did 275 x 5 on deadlift tonight. 215 x 6 for atg squat, couple weeks ago. Should be able to go higher, shortly.

  6. There are videos of the same guy, Allen Baria I think is his name, doing like 700+lbs on bench with a bench shirt on for a rep or two and some of him shoulder pressing 315+. It's pretty freakin crazy. The way he moves that weight so easily is insane.

  7. It keeps you close to parallel through more of the exercise and risking lower back strain. IMO, he's "pulling out" of the SQ too late and the torso position is too close to parallel. Compounds are meant to involve multiple groups. IMO, both before and after form sucks.

Thanks. Could you post a video of correct squat form? The other rippetoe deadlift technique video you said was okay?

  10. Idk his exact stats, but I know he competes at 275 I saw. At that weight he has a successful bench of 815lbs in a competition. I remember seeing some interview of him and he said he had gotten a good bit stronger since that video, but he isn't able to do that many reps like that anymore. He was saying how even though he is stronger I guess his endurance dropped a lot.

I would rather be able to lift like he is in that video than bench 800lbs any day. 800lbs is insane, but thats with a shirt and everything. Raw strength is MUCH more impressive.
