Metastock is still one of the best pieces of software for a serious chartist in the industry. It is "mature", which means working without a hitch isn't sacrificed for weekly new features. It usually comes with Reuters data, wich is some of the faster data feeds but may be unsuitable for anyone who needs "filtered" data. There is also a very actiuve community of users who share indicators for Metastock. On the downside, it's not as good as Neoticker of NinjaTrader for backtesting and autotrading. Nor does it have the most concise laguage to describe indicators and trading systems. Treadestation and Amibroker do.
Then change suppliers? I have not worked out of the US for a long time so I'm not the best person to ask about data. What I can say to you is that I am using MS 10.1 Esignal version and get EOD data from http://www.justdata.com.au/ and http://www.premiumdata.net/ (different markets), and use IB's data stream for R/T futures data. I do not have access to Reuter's Data link but may give them a go in the months ahead as I would like to look at Japanese stocks next.
I have Metastock 8.0 and use dCenter for data. It pulls the data from Yahoo. This site may help anyone using Metastock. http://www.traderssoft.com/
MetsStock EOD is great for paging thru the SP500 list of stocks looking for chart patterns, it's quick and easy. Thats all I use it for.
I use Metaserver: http://www.traderssoft.com/mst/msrt/#tws If you want to speed MS up, I would also recommend you run it off ramdisk plus: http://www.superspeed.com/desktop/ramdisk.php I have not used MS without it for years, so I'm not sure how well later MS versions will handle some of my layouts, but earlier versions could not cope.
Can't you notice the error on the data?? Pls check DJ price last Friday....my EOD 11 shows 10850 close
