So I see this dumb ass "TreeFrogTrader" is using this as an excuse to showcase his overt bigotry. Seems to be a pattern with him always an excuse to trot out a lot of stupidity on this site.

Once again, we see it's not about race, it's about competence to do the job. Diversity hire failing again.

I tend to disagree with the assessment in this video. Prior to being the police chief in Memphis, C.J. Davis was the police chief in Durham, North Carolina (where I currently live). She was well respected in Durham for her efforts to outreach in the community was well as her anti-gang efforts. She expected the officers in the department to demonstrate integrity and quickly removed bad characters from the Durham police force.

C.J. Davis' actions in Memphis to quickly remove the five officers from the department and refer them to the DA for murder charges -- speaks well of her leadership. She did not delay, she did not allow the police department to cover up their actions and she quickly addressed the community.

'“This is not just a professional failing,” Davis said in a video released by her office Wednesday. “This is a failing of basic humanity toward another individual. This incident was heinous, reckless and inhumane."'

  7. I don't know. I don't have a dog in the fight but I am not as anxious to start singing her praise.

She is Police Chief and the actions of the bad actors reflect on her whether she likes it or not. They are product either of bad hiring, bad training or cowboy, gang type mentality of that unit that did the the gang-like beating of the victim. I am not as peppy about her attempt to distance herself and start getting medals for "doing the right thing."

She also, as you know, had a sketchy background in Atlanta, where she was fired for lying and covering up a case involving the husband of a police sergeant who was having sex with minors. Some guy working at the photo processing shop uncovered the nasty stuff and directly reported it and she killed it. And yes, she was reinstated after a lot of legal maneuvers but it does not have a good look to it.

She is not there to be black and to be a woman. It's her Department that put on the shit-show and when that many are involved it indicts the larger circle around them. I see her cutting her losses and trying to get ahead of the curve and that is smart move on her part. Nevertheless I see it.

She might have plenty to commend herself here. I don't know what she inherited. I am just saying that I would have to end out there, rather than start out there. The "what a great job we are doing by charging and locking everyone up within 24 hours routine to keep the masses from turning on us" routine is okay for a while. But everyone and everything there-top to bottom- needs to be examined. Rogue units like that one usually have a history and someone or something enables it. If she has been part of the solution rather than part of the problem, well, let that come out as part of an independent review. No prob.

Keep in mind that C.J. Davis only started as Memphis police chief in June of 2021. She was actively taking steps to reform the department and weed out bad characters. Similar to her actions in Durham.

In regards to Atlanta -- keep in mind that they fired her and then re-instated her after she was cleared. Note the investigators who claimed they told her about the crimes were forced to admit under oath they lied.
