Recent AMD exuberance will be punished. I have both AMD (Threadripper) and Intel (2 years ago prior to TR) and Intel still beats 2 year later AMD in single core, which is where it matters when gaming. AMD is also still not very organized when it comes to many different things. Great branding for Threadripper though. TL;DR: considering seriously YOLO'ing AMD puts but not the best day to do so :-/
YOLO'ed the AMD trade which ended up being a day trade since I'm not going to look a 16% gift in the mouth. I'm short AMD in another account as well, this was more YOLO.
Did I call AMD or what lol. Not regretting the trade, but trying to figure out if my exit strategy was correct.
Entered a small $SNAP bear put after doing some due diligence through my teen daughter (below). $SNAP is going to end up with only the purple hairs and prostitutes using it.
I keep finding these reasonable one day moves and not really comfortable holding for longer. Maybe I've machine learned my own brain into it...
Quick review of meme trades over the last few weeks: - TSLA: shorted from 255 covered around 200 by selling a put because I'm retarded and wanted that extra dough. Then I closed everything out. - SNAP: shorted at 13(?) covered at 12 something - AMD: shorted and covered same day, but should have played long immediately afterwards - SPY: currently short from last Friday, will see how this week plays out (meme trade because trump keeps tweeting for it to go higher.) One thing I've realized is that I am not dedicating enough time to this strategy. I feel like there are way more opportunities than I am seeing because I cannot scale my detective meme hat. I need to think more about how I can do this in a more scalable manner.
Lots of AMD hype going into earnings. Hype will not show on these earnings, likely next year's earnings. Looking to short into earnings. I will look for a news push to the upside before I enter.

Update: I went long AMD and INTC straddles and took a slight increase in IV. Also decided to try my hand at day trading some highly leveraged (DTE=0) ITM options... Surprising result:
