parties exist because in a republic no one gets everything they want. Everyone gets a little or a lot of what they want (based on who wins).

75percent of what I believe in aligns with liberals. 25percent of what I believe in aligns with conservatives. So I am a liberal. (Which is different from democrat).

from your memes and your statements, 75percent of what you believe in aligns with conservative ideology. That makes you a conservative.

you aren’t unique. And nor am I.

  3. No, it doesn't. It makes you think I'm a conservative.

I used to call myself a liberal, but liberalism changed so dramatically that I stopped thinking that.
Conservatism is not a clearly stated ideology at this point, imo. It's changed and there is an emergent front of conservatives that espouse things I largely agree with:

Human freedom and rights are definitive in the maintenence of anything resembling democracy / republic govt.
The government should be the servant of the people, not the master
Government is fallible and prone to corruption, just as business is
Using people's livelihood to force medical procedures on them is evil
Manipulating children for profit is evil, especially by making them question their biological birth and mutilating them

As you said, however, what is presently 'conservative' is vastly different from what was 'conservative' in the 2000's.
Therefore 'conservative' has no inherent meaning. My own approach to politics is more stable than these meanings, therefore it is is silly to define myself by what is more changeable than my own convictions.

I am not a conservative. The malleable mess that is conservative philosophy has given rise to a certain aspect or strain that speaks to me while the rampant lunacy that is liberal ideology has fled all bounds of sense and become totalitarian, war-loving, and based on hatred. I was unwilling to change my perspectives to go along.

So, no, I am not 'conservative,' unless by that you mean, rejecting the current form of 'liberal.' Conservative is now what liberal used to be.
The terms HAVE NO MEANING. At least none that is clear, definitive and stable.

They simply change too much to function as any mode of identity, so I reject them as such.

And I never said I was 'unique.' I said was an Independent. This is actually a legit political stance. I'm sorry you don't agree, but it doesn't really matter.
You don't define me. I do that for myself.

Today, the beliefs you have shared align you as a conservative. In 15 years, you might be something different as the political landscape changes and as you change.

In fact if you re-read your posts, you've stated nothing that is against the current conservative agenda.

  5. Conservatives generally go along with the idea that Covid is a real threat.
    Many conservatives support Ukraine.
Many conservatives consider Trump to be an incarnation of Hitler.
Some conservatives still worry about terrorism.
Many fully support the Patriot Act, Iraq war and other acts of international military adventures.
Most support US military presence all over the world.

    I reject all of these.
You have a funny obsession with labelling me 'conservative.' But whatever.
This is a tiresome discussion. Let's end it.

I'm a conservative. I attend the Republican conventions. I have picture of Reagan on my bedroom wall.

    Are you happy now?

edit: Let me give you another analogy:
I support Christians right to worship.
I believe in many Christian ethics - love of neighbor, human decency, humility and so forth. (not that they live up to these ideals, but...)
I believe that abortion is questionable because there is a baby there.
I share a lot of beliefs.

BUT... I am not a Christian because I DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD.
Sharing a large number of beliefs with a set of people does not make you one of them. That is a logical fallacy.

Your use of "many" is not accurate. You should replace with "Some." And like you, those "some" don't support all the of the official platform of the current conservative party, but they believe in enough of that platform to be called a conservative.

Believing in god and that Jesus is the son of that god is a core tenant of Christianity. In fact it is the only tenant. Everything else is subject to interpretation of the Bible. There are Christians who support abortion rights and Christians who don't. There are Christians who don't believe in "love thy neighbor" and others that do but they are still Christians because of that core tenant.

These Proud Boys did not get 17 years for shaking a fence. Only a complete idiot would think that.

BTW - Do the words “seditious conspiracy” in the charges imply anything? This was a deliberate attempt to overthrow our government. The sentence should have been much longer.
