MT is very handy for customizing charts, with some customizations being very hard to find with other charting software. I have decided to concentrate on using MT for trading with IB account, as it also has the ability to trade directly from the charts, which is very handy. J_S
I'm playing around with MT over the weekend and so far easier to use then Sierra. I was able to connect to IB. Is there anyway I can go back further intraday?? It seems the max limit is 10 days, unless I am not seeing something.
with IB, the max is 10. With other sources, it can be longer. Yahoo may get you 20, depending on the symbol type. IQFeed has much longer - I believe up to 120 or 180 days (don't remember of the top of my head). TD Ameritrade - 120. So basically, very much depends on the data source. Also, if lets say you backfill today for 10 days and in 5 days you backfill again, it will have total of 15 market days of data - MT caches the data. https://www.medvedtrader.com
Your backfill source is explicitly set to IB (look at the Dashboard on the Backfill Source tile, bottom left) Change that to "Smart Source" or "TD Ameritrade", then hit BACKFILL on the chart window
Thank you for the help. I did exactly as you explained. I changed the backfill source under the dashboard to be TDAmeritrade and then hit backfill on chart. Nothing changed however...
TD Ameritrade datafeed doesn't support futures. Stocks/Indices only for backfill (options work for quotes)
