  1. First let me say that I love your program! I was wondering though, under real time quotes you have OptionsXpress whome I use for real-time, yet for indices your don't have them listed. Same goes for news sources. I use their dowjones news feed Is there a way, if possible to include these as possible options in the future? Thankyou!

we do have optionsXpress available for news. Make sure to look under the STREAMING sub-tab (OPTIONS/Data Sources menu, NEWS tab, STREAMING sub-tab)

As for indices, I do not have a list of all the symbols they support. If you happened to know some OX symbol for an index, you can still put it directly into the portfolio

  5. K... So I bit, chewed, and swallowed. The quotein is neat, robust, and presumably suited for non techs/quants/programmers. The gap is apparently in RTD or perhaps quoteins built-in RTD server. Even when setting the throttle to 0 (ie. show every tick), there were still gaps in the T&S. The difference was observable when put side by side with QT T&S. I captured the QuoteIN RTD (ie. unwrapped) and then scrolled each update via some code in the worksheet_calculate function of excel in order to generate the excel equivalent of QT's T&S. Bottom line, when the tape is running, RTD misses a few ticks. At some points, the RTD data set might even be considered a sample set of the T&S as a opposed to the population set which is what I am interested in. Sample sets are good enough for creating bars but unfortunately, I require every tick. It works for them, but not for me.

So I got off my lazy arse, and did as jerry suggested and assimilated the vb streaming api into excel. After much googling on winsock & vba interfacing, I got the darn thing to work properly and in RT showing every tick and then some; the result, an excel T&S matching the QT T&S. One step furthur than that, was a bid/ask/bidsize/asksize/tick tape...

Now if I could only pull the down the other depth changes of the DOM aside from the immediate top layer... Is the DOM even a future plan for the streaming api? Nonetheless, thanks for the swift kick jerry. That streaming api is powerful stuff especially now that I can rewind the tape and look at how the top layer dynamics shifted between each tick... After market debriefing...

    Kind Regards,
    MAK!

Very nice SW and therefore it can be even more improved ...

Keyboard shortcut is needed very much to switch between intraday charts. Or it's already available but I didn't find ??

If there are 15-20 open positions and its necessary to get fast overview what's going on, the switching between chart windows would help.

Now this can be done relatively easy with double click on a symbol or chart. But still it's slower and a lot of "click-work".

  7. if you have a row highlighted in the quote table, hit ENTER
    1) you can just type in a symbol right on the chart (just start typing)
    2) You can drag/drop the symbol onto the chart
    3) you can link the chart (click the pin in upper right corner, on the caption), then click on the first of the symbols you want to view. The chart will change to that symbol. Use the down arrow on the keyboard to go to next symbol - chart changes as you scroll through the symbols.
You can have multiple charts linked - Hist and intraday for example, or 2 intraday charts with different time periods/frequencies

Just like to say thanks to the people responsible for this program. I have been looking for software that "Charts a Portfolio"...............for quite some time. It seems a sensible thing for vendors to provide.............................but who does it? These people do and I am gratefull.

Next step will be someone who provides backfill and the ability to set the start and end date/times of the portfolio chart and offer it in Market Profile format and................etc.

If those interested in Tech Analysis would try analysis on a portfolio chart (multiple stock positions).........you may, like me find your % win ratio go way up (and be less stressful.)

There are reasons why this approach has perhaps a good future. i.e. trade baskets of stocks (or whatever)........don't really look at individual stock positions (after selection) or try it by putting together groups of stocks selected at random and look at the portfolio chart to see if it helps you.
