Medved Quotetracker or Sierra

  1. May I suggest Stock Watch Pro http://www.crontech.com/swp ? Looks like a lot of people are having problems with other pkgs and I've never had any issues with SWP. Works with both QCharts and eSignal...

  2. jerry,

does QT support NYMEX symbols like QG(natural gas futures) and QM(oil futures)???

if so, what's the symbology for it in QT?

oops, actually, i ggot QG to work. do you know why QM is not showing up on IB TWS?

    thanks!!

  3. Yes, it does. For July, it would be:

    NYMEX:mad:QGN4
    NYMEX:mad:QMN4

The easiest way to figure out the symbol is to just enter it into TWS. Then, look at what shows in the EXCHANGE column and at the end of the DESCRIPTION column. In the case of QG, it shows

    Exchange: NYMEX
    Description: JUL04 Futures QMN4

then you just put that together into:
    EXCHANGE:mad:SYMBOL

    resulting in NYMEX:mad:QGN4

    (The @ is for futures)

  4. jerry,

for some strange reasons, NYMEX:mad:QMN4 does NOT work. But the QG works fine.

Is QT down? Because I can't log into it. Even though my IB TWS is functioning fine.

    thanks.

  5. I just tried NYMEX:mad:QMN4 and it worked fine - you sure you have it spelled correctly? :) Also, that you do not have over 40 symbols being tracked?

As for not being able to login - QT cannot be "down" - our servers are not involved. Its working fine here. do you get some popup message?

I have seen TWS reject connections sometimes - close TWS, restart, and try connecting. If still a problem, email our support.

  6. QM works now for some reasons. No, there was NOT a typo. hehe.

Anyhow, I get a "login failed" mesg when I hit the start button on QT. what does that mean? IB TWS is working. And there is only 9-10 symbols. Not 40.

  7. Jerry,

I really like QT. I don't use it on a regular basis as I use Sierrachart but I do check it out from time to time and I must say that it gets better and better. It would be great though if you could increase the refresh rate for your intraday charts, it is a bit lower than that of SC when used in combo with the IB data feed. That might convince me to switch to QT for good...

  8. that means that QT could not connect to TWS. Could happen for a few reasons:

    1) when a connection is attempted, TWS pops up a message asking you to aprove the connection. QT normally tries to auto close that box, but that does not always work. If that box is still up, the user has to click YES within 1 minute, or the connection fails

    2) If you get a notice in QT that the client ID is already in use, there is an INI setting that needs to be adjusted - email support

    3) if for some reason TWS is not accepting connections. Restart of TWS usually fixes that

  9. electron - go to OPTIONS/Edit Preferences menu. click on CHARTS tab, Misc... sub tab. On the bottom right of that screen, change the refresh to 0.1
