db, please don't look into QT again. What anyone uses does not matter to anyone. Each trader is out for themselves. Nobody has said Sierra charts are crap. Does Sierra have robust backtesting like Wealthlab, ect? If so, then that is great. If not, then why bother? Because then, you DO need a 2nd charting program. Especially if you think you need to backtest everything in sight... As far as memory drain, how old are your computers? You need fast ones to keep up with the best traders in the world... What I cannot figure out is: Does Sierra charts have tick, trin, indexes, vix, advance-decline, russell 2000, ect? Or do you have to get this somewhere else? From trying (and failing) I can't seem to get anything. And for Sierra's demo, you only get to use what, IBM, MSFT and INDU? Was up with that? You should tell the boys at Sierra to at least put in ES, NQ, YM or ER2... One more question: Once you have put a fibonacci on Sierra's chart, how do you get rid of it? I can't even do that... I know one thing, if you want a simple program, Sierra has to be the winner!
Crap, now I cannot even get this fibo from coming back each time I click on the chart... I guess I have to open a new chart?...
Sierra also has more tech indicators if you need them. Can you overlay them onto each other like in QT? Or over the price chart?
SierraChart even with an infinite amount of data is about as useful for backtesting as QT. No-one serious about backtesting will use this software for this purpose as it allows only for manual backtesting. For efficient comprehensive automatic backtesting you need to get at least Amibroker.
Chartbook? - please describe what you want and I will tell you if its something that can already be done or is being planned. Every program has it's own names for some features, so "Chartbook" does not really mean anything to me.
