So, what I'm gathering so far is that for the $23.00 the IQ feed is the way to go for simple E-mini trading with backfill. I can use my existing IB for backup. Please correct me if this is not the case. Thanks for replies. Paul
I have been using IB for main feed and Scottrade (free) for the backfill....works pretty good....been happy for quite some time now. Just go to Scottrade and sign up for free....I have used Scottrade for a backup feed on occasion and it worked pretty darn good. Hope this helps ya.....
I might be mistaken, but I believe you also have to add in the exchange fee which I also believe just went up from $10 to $15. Please correct me if I am wrong... Also, Scottrade will only backfill stocks and ETF's, not e-mini's...
Exchange fees apply no matter what datafeed you use. As for the price, you get delayed futures quotes and backfill even if you do not pay the $20 futures feed fee and $10/$15 exchange fee. If you use IB for futures quotes, delayed backfill is fine, so you would save significant amount. If you want to use IQFeed for primary datafeed, then yes, you would need to pay the extra fees for futures
Hey, what a great idea - since I already have my IRA with Scottrade. Could you elaborate on how you would use IB for main and Scottrade for backfill? Do you do it at the same time? or is it just when you lose the IB data feed for some reason, then you use the Scottrade only in that event to fill it in? or are you logged into both of them at the same time? Thanks, Paul
Slapshot, IN Medved QuoteTracker: 1. Click on Options 2 Select Data Sources/Proxy Settings 3 Click on backfill 4 Select Scottrade 5 Enter your password info Next in the same area 1 Click on Quotes 2 Select Interactive Brokers 3 Enter your password info Or go to file....then select site....then select Interactive Brokers
In case someone wants an answer to Pauls question. With Scottrade as the backfill source, you can backfill stocks but not emini's. This is absolutely free with a free registered account at Scottrade. With IB as the quote source, you get emini quotes for free also. But of course, no backfill for the emini's. You need IQFeed for that. The IB quotes come from your account that you have with IB. If you do not have an account with IB, you do not get the quotes.
