meditation as a way to calm trading angsts

  1. on the meditative states that I know of is by David Goleman, Ph.D. in psychology. The book's title is 'The Meditative Mind'.

The book mentions levitation briefly in just one sentence and in quotation marks as "levitation".

    Wally,

The focus of my first post was to make the point that you cannot "prove" the results of meditation in the same way that you can prove that an electron beam can split an atom. Meditation and its results are subjective phenomena and need special care.

On the other hand, I totally agree that levitation and other such external phenomena need concrete proof in the lab.

What interests me is the budding field of neurophysiology research that shows that experienced meditators who are involved in an internal aspect of manifestation (such as the precursors to siddhis discussed in some ancient texts, like Patanjali's) can be shown to generate far more coherent brain activity than normal. Is this a place that one can expect major (meditation-related) findings in the future? Possibly, but of course we have to wait.

Now, on the subject of general relativity, what I know is that the cornerstone of the theory is the graviton, which has not yet been oberved in the lab or in space. What we have seen recently is increased (but still tentative) proof that heavy objects (like galaxies) do cause light to bend - which is consistent with general relativity. However, others are trying to explain this through variations of the special theory of relativity that allow for the speed of light to have been greater (than the one we can measure today) during the first short periods of time after the Big Bang.

But, we are now going too far afield from trading and Baron may send us to the penalty box :)

  6. The CD is copied to my harddrive; I use it on my laptop with headphones. I use it either just when waking up, and/or before going to sleep. It is designed to leave you awake & alert. So when going into sleep finish it off before the reentry technique.
Maybe I can explain why I can’t talk about it. Suggestive meditation does have a positive impact on the left hemisphere of the brain. And to that extent I can hearten it’s benefits.

The real benefit is to the unformed, unmade non-verbal right hemisphere of the brain that formal education tends to ignore.
I would say it helps me be more serene, relaxed. The stress disperses earlier.
The brain is always working, wondering if it has done everything that needs to be completed. Tradingmind systematically programs you to cover all the details. To that end, at the end of the day, stress is reduced.

  7. That's how 'proof' photos are made.

In self-hypnosis you can come to a state where you don't feel your body anymore or it feels very light. But gravity will make sure that you don't fly away.
So I think you don't have to take "levitation" literally.

  8. If I have a couple of losing trades, I briefly close my eyes, take a few deep breaths and start to trade again... I dunno if this is classed as meditation but it sure does the trick...

  9. I refer to the respondent who cited a relaxation tool created by Mr. Jake Bernstein. Did you know that if you went into Amazon.com and typed "Jake Bernstein" that you would get 34 results? 34 results! Does not that alone give you any pause? Perhaps his program does indeed work. The law of large numbers is certainly on his side.

  10. Welcome to the desert of the Real - Morpheus

    Levels of Reality
Level 0 - Nothingness, Indivisability, The Feild of Potentiality
Level 1 - Consciousness, Energy, Matter.
Level 2 - Hyperreality ( the realm of simulacra and simulations, the mass produced, copies without orginals, signs that refer not to reality but to each other, hyperreality is a self-simulated reality - like in the movie Matrix but without the AI machines ).

Meditation helps you unplug temporarily from hyperreality and connect to reality at level 0. It is not a get happy quick scheme as it is often marketed.
