any belief, system, technology can become an obsession. at the "obsession" point these things become harmful to one's well being. i try to live by the moto--ALL things in moderation. best, surfer
Indeed. Anyone who has traded successfully can see the fundemental truths. Your ultra cool Ana Maria! -- Z
Hi Ana, I have tried meditating for the first time this evening, and it is remarkable how relaxed and focused I am now. Thank you for your guidance at just the right time. Natalie
Most individuals who arrived at true greatness, either in this world, or in their quest for things beyond this world were obsessed with their goals. The lived for their goals, and everything else was secondary to their vision.....nothing else mattered. You don't come in first place without being obsessed with the prize.
yes, you are semi- correct 777. however, i prefer to call the obsession with one's goals--- FOCUS. there are many obsessed individuals who never achieve greatness. the ability to FOCUS is the key, not obsession. in addition, in the context of this thread on meditation, if one becomes obsessed with meditation and "meditates" all day, day in and day out--it becomes harmful---however, if one uses meditation as a tool--it can be most excellent for your well-being. best, surf
I usually get a chuckle when you try to "correct" me. One can have the ability to focus, but unless that person is obsessed with their goal, untill that person is willing to do anything it takes to achieve at that goal, focus is meaningless. The part of the mind that focuses is the intellect, but it is the desire that burns in the heart that is the director of that focus. Mind follows desire. Burning desire is at the root of all great accomplishments. Intense desire brings everything into focus.
if one cannot focus, intense desire will burn achieving nothing in the process. obsession is intense desire without intelligent focus. best, surf
Hi Dave-- Wow, what a great weekend, to also hear from you. Speaking of paying for what they already know, Ana Maria ps-- Are you ever going to spin the wheel on the SPX?
As usual, your vision is limited to your own small sphere of experience of this one particular life. You may, like so many others, view the greatness of those we call "genius" as simply the convergence of burning desire, talent and the strength to focus as a random act of haphazard human birth. Others will recognize that those who blind, and bind themselves wholeheartedly to a goal are not stopped by the end of breath in this one life. I continue to be amazed at those who claim "spirituality" beyond the confines of organized western religion are yet shackled with such a narrow and temporal focus to draw their conclusions from. Desire is everything, and until it burns beyond the brightness of every other desire, it leads to little more than mediocrity.
Wally I am not brainwashed in the usual sense of the word I guess. Research and judge these things for your own - but do it intensly otherwise you end with moving averages cross overs if you know what i mean. I definitely know that most things sold within what you might call the esoteric community are worse than crap. BTW sometimes my brain is dirty by a lot of crap. After meditation it really feels clean and nice - if you mean that by brainwashed, I am your man. Natalie great. great. peace
