Meditation and trading

Discussion in 'Psychology' started by felixbocharov, Apr 26, 2016.

  1. Neuro-science and other researches tells us that more than 99% of our mind is immersed in subconsciousness. The worst part is that all our "major" decisions are powered by this subconscious force. https://goo.gl/63v1HN

"Our life is driven by unknown force within, unseen and hence uncontrolled by our conscious mind."

There are three well known ways to take some control of our life by bringing up some of the sunconscious forces to the surface and by working on them.
    1. Psycho therapy
    2. Hypno therapy
    3. Meditational practices

Meditation is the odd one out. It gives us an elevated view point about life and allows to see the purpose of life.

    Who should trade?
    1. Those have natural trading skills
    2. Those who have real passion for trading
    3. Those who just want to earn money through trading

The second and third category of traders can learn trading by systematically developing trading skills.

The first category of traders can have trading as a fulfilling career provided they have passion for trading.

The third category of traders cannot have trading as a fulfilling career since it is not their passion.

Trading psychology: Trading is a blend of science and art. Meditation helps to nurture and embrace creativity.

    Why trading is an art?
Well, trading is done my humans, not machines, and traders have their own unique psychology or perspective about trading. Psychology is not pure science. It is a form of hidden art. You can still be a successful trader without creative skills but to achieve professional levels you need to apply creativity to trading.

If you just sit and observe, you will see how restless your mind is. If you try to calm it, it only makes it worse, but over time it does calm, and when it does, there’s room to hear more subtle things – that’s when your intuition starts to blossom and you start to see things more clearly and be in the present more. Your mind just slows down, and you see a tremendous expanse in the moment. You see so much more than you could see before. It’s a discipline; you have to practice it.

  3. Tea actually has more caffeine than coffee per gram when comparing tea leaves to coffee beans- but we tend to drink tea in a much weaker solution than coffee so the caffeine in a cup of tea is less than in a cup of coffee.

My form of meditation is spirited motorcycle riding on curvy mountain roads. The head space you get into when you are in the flow with the road, machine and mountain is very zen like.

I find it very relaxing to watch birds feeding, flying etc. outdoors.
If you are stuck indoors an aquarium with fish is very relaxing.

  9. I recently started meditating upon a fellow trader friend's recommendation. So far I don't see any major results in my trading but I do feel lighter. I think it 'll be a while before I can witness any significant changes. It is highly important to remain alert and observant while trading.

  10. Let me tell you this. I been trading for awhile and struggling with emotions. I have been meditating 2x /day for about 2 years. It helps but if you brain chemistry/neurotransmitters are out of balance you have a bigger battle to win that meditating will not overcome. I found i was GABA deficient and gaba supplements just do not work. Just taking supplements to try and increase gaba production was futile. The gut is connected to the brain, if the gut is in dysbiosis your brain chemistry is chapped. Improve your guts microbiome and the brain gets fed what it needs and will find equilibrium.
