"Fred wants to communicate feelings to the conscious mind so that the conscious mind can experience the feelings and generate wisdom. When we allow Fred to do his job, we live full, rich lives that just seem to get better and better. When we stop Fred, we get stuck in drama." The Trading Tribe, P. 51.

  2. Makes sense. And I'm flattered that he would use my namesake. :)

Frederick, I have used a similar technique working as a coach for years, but there are now many teachers helping people with this type of -- and you can do it yourself.

There is one excellent book I know of that teaches this, "Whatever Arises, Love That," by Matt Kahn. This is all "spiritual" stuff and may or may not appeal to people, but it works. And, in addition to helping one's trading this work can also help in life! (Not reacting, release fears, anger, etc.)

The concept is that you don't even need to know where these feelings originated (probably from a childhood trauma). The body remembers, so when you clear the feelings from the body they are gone. Talk therapy has typically spent a lot of time talking about the issues, when all we really need to do is feel them and let them release.

  4. I have been aware of this technique for many years. I learned it (and much more) at Landmark Education in 1991. Best course I've ever done. Their website is www.landmarkworldwide.com

Sort of a contradiction. You can do it yourself. I've coached people that way. Or you can take this course.

  6. Thanks for your reply. While I like the general idea of it, to be candid, I'm not enamored of the blurb about the author on Amazon:

    About the Author
MATT KAHN is an author, spiritual teacher, and highly-attuned empath. Since a series of rare and spontaneous awakenings that began at the age of eight with an out-of-body experience and direct connection with Ascended Masters and Archangels, he has been instrumental in transforming lives worldwide through his profound insights and heart-centered teachings.

I'm not a fan of full-on spirituality and mysticism, preferring a more stripped-down, practical version of things, which is why books like Fully Present and The Relaxation Response appealed to me. But your earlier post reminded me that I should get back to allowing those pesky emotions and such to course through me and be on their way.

I've noticed that most gurus tend to be self-appointed.

  8. But if someone else appointed them, then that person would be the true guru. And so on.

  9. Thanks for the reply, but I'm not personally interested in taking a course. Rather, I was looking for a simple and practical book. (Perhaps it's an attention span thing.) But I suppose the principle is simple enough: just let it out and let it happen rather than having it snowball inside. So maybe it's more about sitting down and actually doing it rather than seeking more sources on the subject to study. At least as it relates to this matter.

Do you day dream? Form of meditation, I like visualization, I dream of me sitting in front of laptop sipping good cup of coffee and trading as well as I can, see myself with big grin and hour is over and I am done scalping. Am sure your visions are different and you can change them each day.
