There is nothing anecdotal with what I said and I have doctor friends I have had conversations over Medicare issues. Doctors and nurses have bills to pay too like everyone else and families to feed. Majority will not put up with the nonsense for long. I urge you to watch Un-American movie on Prime Video and see for yourself the truth about the much praised UK and Cuba health systems as it actually, is instead, of the BS Sicko movie of Michael Moore. There are actually, hidden cameras to record things as it is happening. Cuban hospitals are rundown, you get filthy dirty matresses and urine and feces on the floor. That is what is really happening. The UK system also, is teethering on bankruptcy among other problems. Watch the movie and open your eyes.

This is exactly what many people don't understand.....at the end of the day... Healthcare in the US is a business like any other business. You need to be your own advocate. You can be hustled if you aren't able of determine a fair price for services. In the past, no one really cared because their insurance coverage was 100%. But now, with 5-10k deductibles people are waking up. For example, the cost of an MRI of the knee in a hospital will probably cost 400-500% more than a imaging center.

A lot of people are missing a good point of this stuff - removing healthcare as an employee benefit. Being forced to work as a wage slave in order to get healthcare is probably the single greatest way to keep people perpetually chasing carrots...almost like it was planned to be that way.

On to the more practical concern of healthcare for all - Bernie claimed (if I remember right) he can deliver healthcare to everyone for 4% more in taxes. If true, that is incredible. Going to the exchange and finding a medium deductible plan for myself (something I think would be approximately what the government would give us) comes out to 7.1% of my total yearly income (closer to 9% or more if you consider worst-case hitting the deductible)! I am not sure how he would accomplish it with 4%, but if possible, would certainly shine light on the reason the Republicans don't want healthcare for all. Control. It would be amazing to save 3-4% on healthcare costs per year AND get insurance even if I lose my job. Nothing quite describes the panic of running out of medication right when you lose your job.

I understand you're trying to be cute. Healthcare should be a human right. Great countries take care of their people first and if we are truly MAGA, and truly America first, we should be concerned with the fact healthcare continues to be the #1 worry on people's minds.

Also cool 2 year old article. Cool false dichotomy with a "healthcare for all" scenario and Canada's system. Cool hot take website.

America has and continues to be one of the most chronically ill societies in the world (obesity in particular) and yet we continue to vote against our best interests to take care of our people. I'm beginning to think there should be an IQ test to vote.

  5. Who is the "All" in "Medicare For All"???? Who will have access to this? American Citizens? Illegal Immigrants from Central and South America? Birth Tourists? https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/20200123_birth-tourism-update.html

Chinese tourists looking for free medical care? https://apnews.com/017068dff4b84e1f98365787d3b52f3e

Is free health insurance just a border crossing walk or a plane ticket away for the entire world? Open Borders Communist Bernie is not tough on illegal immigration. Giving Free College and Free Healthcare to whoever shows up is not feasible.

France has universal healthcare that is mandatory for all citizens, whether they’re employed or not. Healthcare is managed across the country by the Ministry of Health. The government coverage scheme is administered through the French Social Security office where 70% of services are covered for all typical health care needs, including general practitioners, hospitals, dentists, and pharmacy costs. For seniors who are 65 or older, or individuals with chronic illnesses, the services are fully covered.

To pay for additional services like chiropractors or long-term care at private hospitals, or to cover the remaining 30% of the basic care, individuals can purchase private insurance. They can either pay for it out-of-pocket, or in some cases an employer will cover the extra amount.

Germany-Health insurance is mandatory for all citizens and permanent residents of Germany. It is provided by two systems, namely: 1) competing, not-for-profit, nongovernmental health insurance funds (“sickness funds”—there were 118 as of January 20161) in the statutory health insurance (SHI) system; and 2) substitutive private health insurance (PHI).

As of 2016, the legally set uniform contribution rate is 14.6 percent of gross wages, shared equally by the employer and employees

Japan-Medical fees are strictly regulated by the government to keep them affordable. Depending on the family’ income and the age of the insured, patients are responsible for paying 10%, 20%, or 30% of medical fees, with the government paying the remaining fee.

As informal surveys by The Japan Times show, the Japanese health care system, the basic structure and regulatory mechanism of which have changed little since universal coverage was achieved in 1961, has its own set of shortcomings and flaws compared with systems abroad.

Not only that, its rapidly aging society and shrinking ranks of premium-paying workers, coupled with the arrival of new drugs and technologies fetching phenomenal prices, are putting immense strains on the system, experts say, making its sustainability uncertain.

Do any of those systems sound like Bernie's Magic Medicare for all at the low, low price of 4% income tax? Forget for a moment that these countries have a fraction of the USA population.
