media bias

  1. Shouldn't matter if the rule states that equal time must be provided on public airwaves.

If you want balance, equal time for opposing views is the way to get it.

How can we get more balance into print media (omitting opinion journalism, of course)?

And then you have the problem who represents each view. For example, you often see brilliant and well informed liberals battling against "conservatives" who have been chosen because of their inability to speak straight, or are told not to do so.

It's like watching Raw - you know the match is fake and the victor set before the wrestling begins.

You cannot set rules up front - you have to hold the Networks liable for results. Like, a random group of focus groups evaluating each set of shows every month or two and grading them wrt bias or lack thereof.

  4. Like Hannity and Colmes, where Hannity stands tall and debates against the insipid Martian.

Those two are very well matched, as are their guests. On the other hand, look at "The View." Four big, old, fat, ugly liberals against one pretty, slim, always ambushed and hopelessly outnumbered conservative... It's like a fairytale over and over again :)

  6. :) LOL!

Colmes looks like he's just come from outer space, Hannity looks like a middle aged male model. Hannity speaks about 75% of the time if not more. Colmes quietly picks his ears! :)

"A study by Media Matters for America, ... found that the number of conservatives and Republicans brought on as guests outnumbered the number of liberals and Democrats by margins of 72%–28% in January, and 67%–33% in February. Of the solo interviews that are conducted on the show, 80% of the interviews are conducted with conservatives and Republicans.

"The View?" LOL! That's not a political analysis show. If you can quote the view, I can say "I tell ya, those Muppets are BIASED!"

  7. You really should limit your posts to the joke thread.

    TDog and BigDave,

You guys are totally wrong; the bias is many orders of magnitude on the other side, much, much worse, despite what various liberal rags claim.
