The murders, the wounded, the paralyzed, the grieving families mean nothing to you. In your mind you have no connection to these people and their pain means nothing to you. These things mean nothing to you lefties with regard to illegal immigration, why should they mean anything to anyone at all? Why are undocumented gun owners a problem? Guns coming into the state without regulation has nothing to do with nearly everyone in NY state ignoring the state's regulation requiring state residents to register firearms with their local police. They simply ignored it. As did the police. The police were uncomfortable enforcing it. What a load of horseshit. I'm on record many times on this forum as pushing for sensible gun laws that have a chance of working. I've said before, several times, the minimum age should be 25. I've advocated for removing anonymous 3rd party sales (the so-called "gun show loophole"). I am a concealed carry permit holder and I train regularly with firearms. I've done a lot of research on firearm safety and statistics. I have very close friends who are soldiers and local law enforcement. You parrot talking points from the left media and expect me to sit idly by as you spew bullshit rhetoric. Yeah, I don't think so. You have actionable plans that have a chance of working? I'm right there with you. But so far little of what you said has any chance of impacting what you claim to be concerned about - which is the safety of children. You need to come at this with a little more than some random HuffPo article claiming guns are thrown away in some Maryland counties.

A federal grand jury in Texas returned a 15-count indictment Tuesday charging two men with conspiracy to commit hate crimes after they allegedly used Grindr to assault, taunt and rob gay men. Daniel Jenkins, 19, and Michael Atkinson, 24, are named in the indictment, which was unsealed on Wednesday, said U.S. Attorney Erin Nealy Cox of the Northern District of Texas. According to the indictment, during the first two weeks of December 2017, the two men used the popular LGBTQ dating app to lure at least nine men, ages 19 to 57, to a vacant Dallas apartment complex. Once inside, the defendants allegedly pointed guns at some of the men, subjected them to gay slurs, and took their wallets, cars and cellphones. “At least five victims were physically assaulted, one was sexually assaulted with an object, and one was smeared with feces,” the state attorney’s office said. In addition to the conspiracy charge, Jenkins and Atkinson face a number of other charges, including kidnapping and carjacking. If convicted as charged, Jenkins and Atkinson could face a maximum statutory penalty of life in prison.
We need some better regulation, but if you want to find consensus (and the only way any of this gets done is to push a bi-partisan consensus) then you have to be reasonable with your requests. There are lots of folks on the left that are alarming those of us on the right with emotional, nonsensical outbursts on gun legislation that won't do anything to stop crime, but will make it less possible for us to defend ourselves. You won't get any cooperation with that type of thinking.

Of course it is. That's why we push so hard to keep our firearms - because we know the bad guys have them. But you guys are the ones who want to change the current status by challenging the freedoms we have. We believe the solution primarily lies with initiatives outside of regulating firearms. There are hundreds of laws already on the books. Enforce them. Your side has folks calling for banning firearms, and that makes us dig in our heels. Surely you cannot be so foolish as to not see this.
