McDonald's coffee bars to take on Starbucks

  1. I think McD is on to something. You can get in and out of McD in less than 5 minutes and for about $3 get a coffee and McMuffin.

You can get in and out of Tim Horton's in less than 10 minutes with a breakfast sandwich.

The dark roast coffee at McD tastes just as good as a dark roast coffee at Starbucks or Second cup. (Lighter roast are a different story) . And how many people have bought a Mcmuffin and then gone to starbucks for a coffee?

  5. You got me, the jig is up! SBUX at 2200N Clark. At 1500N Clark. All of the Chi Loop stores were lacking seating, save for 100N LaSalle. Midtown Manhattan has seats? Well no shit.

They have stools and small counters at the aforementioned. The one I frequented on Wells had plenty of seating.

  6. In downtown Montreal there is a stand up Starbucks at the Atwater entrance to the Alexis Nihon Plaza. I suspect there may be others in Montreal, but I have not yet come across them.

Frankly, I'd rather sit down at a Tim Horton's than stand at a Starbucks, and get better coffee for a lower price. As I wrote earlier, Starbucks is all about the atmosphere for me. So, while I'm willing to pay a bit more to get that atmosphere, I certainly wouldn't pay more to not get it. I think Starbucks' drive-through clientele, for the most part, are morons. Perhaps I should do a poll.

  7. So, is this the same as the McCafe or is this something completely different?

  8. just remember this. If you're white, and you're in an inner city Mickey Dees, never let them lower the coffee below the counter to "lighten" it.

    You're welcome.

  10. I’m a Starbucks regular (1-2 bar drinks a day) and I’ve also tried McD’s coffee (desperate times call for desperate measures). Although I was pleasantly surprised by the McD’s cup, there are two main issues that will keep me away from McD’s. First, McD’s isn’t nearly as strong as the Starbucks bar drinks and second (more importantly), I do not want to have anything that starts with a Mc every morning. If you start with the McCoffee you’ll end with the McFatty.
