AMZN revenue was up 22% you must be referring to profit fell 45% year over year. earnings are irrevelevant to AMZN as they are a non-profit retailer that at any time they choose can become a very for profit retailer. i think it's too hard to make money off a generalization on such a short term basis, you may as well go to the casino. you have the deck stacked against you with short selling, unless you are shorting puts. plus stock is up $23 after hours as of this post.
What does higher revenue mean with no profit? I can make my own retail company and sell a $1000 TV for $800 and lose money and I bet you my revenue will go to the roof. But the minute that I try to make a dime, the rubber will hit the road and I will face the reality.
i'm just stating the facts. they are building a nationwide network. nobody can beat them at it, save wal-mart and target matching there prices point for point. i'm being sarcastic when i say they don't make money, they do, they just undercut almost everyone because they can. i use them extensively and never had a problem, they have a 24 hour 1 million sq ft distribution center a few miles from house. i think people buying their stock are excessively optimistic. i think people shorting their stock are suicidal. if you can make money consistently trading stocks and options in a delta neutral fashion why not stick with that. i just short puts with a 90% win rate while getting the life beat out of me on the other 10% of the positions from time to time. it works for me. i'm going flat right now because its been a while since i've made so much so fast and it's frightening. best of luck
