Seriously man? Its a well known fact that the Clinton's stole furniture from the White House. The Clinton staff members also vandalized White House equipment on the way out. The Clintons and their supporters are all trash.
History and reality. Don't know the dollar figure involved but it is an absolute fact that they plundered the china and silverware on the way out and other goodies.
The only fairly detailed accounts I can find from relatively non-ideologically driven sources suggest something perhaps questionable on the part of the Clintons, but far more favorable to them than what the verb 'plundered' would suggest. When something doesn't make much sense to me I have a natural inclination to question it. And in the case of the Clintons, why would they intentionally steal items that belonged to the Park Service? Are they otherwise having to camp out on apple crates? It seems it can only be the case that there is a legitimate question to whom some items in the white house belong. It's a resolvable question. And apparently has been resolved with return of a few items. Now if you think that the Clintons were personally involved in loading a U-Haul when moving back to New York, then you also might be susceptible to some quite wild charges. My guess is that their move was a rather major operation involving quite a few personnel, and mistakes under those circumstances, I would have to guess, are not rare. But of course a mistake is useless to an ideologue for propaganda purposes. The truth is I don't know, and likely neither do you, whether the Clintons intentionally took items that did not belong to them. The difference between us would be that I'm inclined to see that as quite unlikely , whereas it seems you may think it likely. I suppose we will have to leave it there, since neither of us were next to the 'U-Haul' monitoring the move, and the media reports are inconsistent. They range from 'plundered,' through 'of questionable ownership,' to 'taken in error.' Some media reports are stating that items in the last two categories have been returned, although other media that came down heavily on the plundered side, seem mostly silent on the returns.
Yup. Put me down as being in the likely category. A couple sips of kool aid and I might be in your category but I am not there yet. Oh I see. They ultimately returned or paid for some of it as a result of public criticism, so it is as though nothing ever happened. That's Clinton 101. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=121856&page=1
From your link above, and thank you by the way you for a good link other than from an ideologically driven source, there is this paragraph: “Gifts did not leave the White House without the approval of the White House usher’s and curator’s offices,” the statement said. “Of course, if the White House now determines that a cataloging error occurred, ... any item in question will be returned.” I'm not OK with anyone stealing from our White House, but I am OK with the above statement. According to the linked article there is a White House Gift Office that is responsible for determining and recording whether a gift is to remain with the White House or whether it is a personal gift to the First Family. It is possible for misunderstandings to occur, I suppose.
Yup, everything was so above board that once the public found out about it they ended out either returning it or paying for it to avoid any penalties or public scorn. Hillary skates again. As I said, "Clinton 101." "I kept a private server in my basement to run my business as Secretary of State" but its okay because I stopped doing that once some people started suggesting it was not okay."
how about those instincts and the plagiarism warning? about public knowledge. something everyone knew about the clintons? 200 grand worth of theft mentioned in the article in 2001 dollars. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=121856&page=1 After they were criticized for taking $190,000 worth of china, flatware, rugs, televisions, sofas and other gifts with them when they left, the Clintons announced last week that they would pay for $86,000 worth of gifts, or nearly half the amount. Their latest decision to send back $28,000 in gifts brings to $114,000 the value of items the Clintons have either decided to pay for or return.
