No it does not. The Account balances window does not show buying power of any kind. Only the level II screen does.

All your earlier versions showed DTBP, OBP and real time buying power in the "Account Balances" window. The level II window only shows one figure - Real time buying power. Nothing else.

  5. I know very little about MB except to say that I met the Dad of Ross (I think it was Ross' dad) here in Las Vegas while viewing a home at Lake Las Vegas. MB has good people running it, I have met a few traders who love the place.

Anyway, I was smiling about whether or not the BP shows up in one window or another, and the ensuing argument. Why not just "snag it" (the screen) and post it?

(Just trying to lighten up the thread a bit, LOL). Now I'm curious to see it.

    Don :)

Really. Buying power is Buying power to you hah? Never mind if it is overnight, real time, or starting morning daytrading buying power. Tells me how much you know about the retail side of things.
You've got the buying power. Go for it. Reg T be damned. Buying power is buying power!

  9. retail is a whole differnet ballgame

when you trade pro, your buying power gets returned when you are done using it throughout the day.

so if you have 400K dtbp, you put on a trade that uses 5000 shares at 30 a share (150Kbp) you have 250 left and 150 in use. The second you close that position, that 150 should be returned to you giving you back your 400K.

in a pro firm, the bp stays the same generally regardless of you day win or loss....but probably at retail its an exact formula, and sometimes they screw with your bp because of reg t and many times they jsut make mistakes. Oh well, you pay for it in lost opportunity.

i have heard so many horror stories about retail firms and traders...

imagine not having the buying power when you NEED it, i don't think anything, evey losing money, is worse than not being able to take advantage of big trades

    Pairsarbtoo,

Everything is fine with the BP. It was a display issue only in the account balances window. I supplied a link to roll back to so that the display works properly. In addition, with issue about not having 2:1 overnight BP was because of SMA being less than Maint Excess. The rule is to use the lessor of the SMA or Maint Excess to determine the overnight BP. In this most current situation that was the case, SMA was less than Maint Excess. There is nothing wrong with the calculations. It is being explained in detail to our client in PM since it involves personal details. Nevertheless, I appreciate everyones interest.

    Regards,

    Steve
