Mav's Verticals

  1. Understood, I'll stay outta it, directional is totally antithetical to my personal God... I'm always directionally-agnostic. Anyway, I understand what you're trying to accomplish.

I'll only add my opinion that directional strategies are best left to the spot markets, long gamma is better utilized in volty-bets. Not to say that I haven't sold my share of otm call and put spreads to take some direction.

I see that you're answering requests for directional plays, carry on.

  3. Just to lighten it up a bit, I thought you guys might want to see a picture of Mav stark naked. It's quite a sight.

    See attached.

  4. Because there are lots of people starting new journals in the journals section lately, I thought I would make a request for the Mav to start a journal. It would be refreshing to see a journal on spreads. I am sure that I speak for a lot of et 'rs who follow your info packed threads (did that rhyme? cat in the hat? lol). Ever give this any consideration of starting a journal in the new year?? Seasons Greetings Mav :)

Yeah that's a good pic. But I have been working out a lot since that pic was taken so my lines are a little curvier now and not so straight. LOL.

I don't know how much interest there is out there in me starting a journal but I do have some concerns over that. One is I noticed from reading a lot of journals that they seem to be full of people that just attack the journal owner. Guys bicker back and forth about this and that and there doesn't seem to be any value there.

Also, I tend to have a lot of open positions and I tend to do a lot of stuff with very thinly traded options. I'm not sure how safe I feel about letting the world know where I am on a very thin option when it's time for me to get out. LOL. I'm a very private person when it comes to trading also. I don't like to talk about my success or failures particularly my success. I don't want it to affect me psychologically. And it will! LOL. I was featured in Smart Money magazine a few years back about options trading and boy did I take a hit after that. Talk about calling a top. It was brutal. Ever since then I have never talked about money or my options trades with anybody. It's the kiss of death.

  9. I think you should stick with your instincts on that... don't need a journal.

You contribute plenty here in the options forum, for which I am grateful!

But I do think you should set up an options hotline for all ET options traders...!!! ???

    :p

    Good 2004...

  10. Never discuss your open options positions in a public forum -- nothing good can come of it.
