Funny you should mention that. I've logged onto TST's live chat a number of times in the last couple of weeks. I usually only stay for a few minutes or to listen to a guest speaker. Other than that I really don't get anything out of it. I'm NOT knocking their chat rooms. They are certainly good for comradery. I used to participate daily in ET's Futures chat room some years ago, while it lasted. But again, comradery is really all I ever really got out of it.
I use to hang out in the regular ET chat room back in the day. I got a lot out of it! It was P&R real time. Now THAT was fun. Almost too much fun. Man did we have some characters in there.
Oh no, Baron shut it down a long time ago. But that room was packed! The usual full time cast included Zzz, gabby, nitro, resinate, pabst, surfer, cbk, saxon, banjo, atty and many others. Honestly, it was the best part of ET. Trading? Good lord no. Other then Zzz discussing his RAD purchases (it was a $3 stock), we spent the whole day throwing shit at each other. But it was fun! Like I said, just picture P&R in real time where NOBODY can be ignored!
What happened to those characters? Nitro been very quiet--- he was an elite luminary for many years....
Sheesh, other than entertainment value I could never work out the logic of a running a forum trading journal, namely some reasons... a) Trading systems are unique to the designer b) Why broadcast your signals and give away your system. c) Because of the unique features of your system, no one else 'gets it' so the result is a babble of nonsense replies especially from noobs totally unrelated to your purpose. More wasted time. Ignore all the above if your system is designed around MACD / MA / STO / RSI / OBV / ROC / etc etc Then this would make sense. You would all be baaa-ing from the same hymn book whilst leaping over the cliff like a mob of sheep infused with the DNA of Lemmings.
I not giving away my signals, I am having a journal which will talk about my day trying to pass the combine. I already mentioned to them that I don't want to give away my signals.
and Praetorian's GNP action was awesome. and if anyone finds resinate or banjo (not sure which) tell them i still have the, "Open outcry" VHS tape they sent me. I'll send it back, but does anyone still have a VCR?
More and more I view "signals" (even actual stat arb) as a minor element, while execution / order management is everything -- so much so that I think, even if an excellent order management strategy were described publicly, there'd be very few who could actually re-implement it. When every thousandth-of-an-inch counts, the machine's hard to replicate, even with a blueprint.
