I understand the difference... I didn't understand the wording of his question when briefly skimmed. The way it read, I thought he meant the 60/40 split was intact. It didn't occur to me that someone else takes the 60/40 and I would not. By the same token, that must be equally true of futures prop firm traders elsewhere. So what's the difference, again? Lastly, may I repeat it is extra money above & beyond all else. So whether the tax treatment is 60/40, 50/50 or 40/60 the end result is money you would not have otherwise because it is in addition to ALL of your personal resources. So yes I understand the difference, and I understand we are in the land of negative assumptions here at ET.
Most guys know u know .. I am pretty sure most of the negative stuff is due to surfers ability to bait and mock guys who he could not shine their shoes. Good luck with getting additional funding assuming there is some legit aspect to the program.
Speaking for myself, not in the slightest. Unlike the never lose TA objective, can be automated system deluded souls, I realize that risk is required to profit when trading. Risk means that one may lose, which I did. It is alsO the ability to take risk that results in outsized gains. Real traders understand this fact. Insightful question, thanks!
Getting cold in CT, domestic? What's up with the gonzo hate vibe? Did I dis you 10 years ago? My apologizes, I could be a jerk back then. I am not "baiting or mocking" anyone. Why do you keep repeating this? Surf
surf, don't make assumptions about my motives or put words in my mouth. i have said why i am posting as i do. you are an instigator for selfish reasons. you mock and misrepresent what good traders say..including myself. guys who actually make a living trading show up here less and less not because there are fewer of us..its because people like you turn us off so much with your verbiage.
Once the cushion reached, the backer can not lose more than back to the zero balance, so all the losses from that point are coming from the profits. TST never risks more than 2 K. Once the trader reached the 5K cushion, with the 60/40 split he can withdraw 3K, the backer withdraws his 2K, and if the trader loses 2K, the backer only lost the already bagged profits. So this is why they can remove the cushion. The cushion basicly showing the "dead zone". (when Baumgartner's balloon was rising, until reaching the 4000 feet height, if shit happened, he had no way of saving himself because he was too close to the ground, thus that was his dead zone) Once the dead zone/cushion is passed, the backer can relax, because he can't lose from his starting capital anymore. ------------------------ Evaluating Surf's performance: If we look at the fact that Surf was up 3.2K in the first few hours of the Combine and ended it down - 3.2K, his performance looks even worse. That is a swing of 12.5 % in 10 days.... Had he not let his ego in the way after that initial gain, and had just traded lightly for the rest of the 10 days, he would have been the trading king of ET with bragging rights for the next 5 years....
Shhh, just wait, set the bait and they will bite. OK am biting, who ever said "never lose", come on Surf, play it straight. You know that has never been said or implied. I think you must have a monthly quota for ET, post inflammatory comments, get responses (guilty) and if you meet your objective than the next month of ET is free for you, come on tell the truth.
Yes, i agree, i should have said "rarely" lose. I have heard never lose in the past from some folks but not recently. surf
Speaking truthfully, ego combined with a go for it instinct--- has been my downfall and success lodestone that i have fought my entire life--- nothing like a controlled trading experiment to bring truth to the surface. Everyone should participate in this Combine--- it really kills your personal demons, even more so than real money due to the public nature-if you wish. surf
there should be cliff notes for this thread, if you don't agree with surf he put's you in the "TA" camp, whatever that means. Most of life never mind trading is performance based. I will sum up with one of the best et quotes ever from optioncoach. "skill, edge, just make some fu&*in money"
