Maverick74 and marketsurfer's TopstepTrader Combine (daily trade reports and journal)

Discussion in 'Prop Firms' started by TST_Hoag, Oct 1, 2012.

  1. Pekelo- All recruits must meet or exceed either our scouting criteria or the scouting criteria they customized (we allow customized objectives to be submitted to the scout team: http://www.topsteptrader.com/customevaluation)

So to answer, no there is not a live trader who got in without passing the Combine. We have seen recruits get close and then will call them and offer advice or let them change their evaluation criteria the next time, but the point is we are a scouting agency for traders. We want the trader STAYING on the live account and CASHING CHECKS. This is good for business and this is VERY good for everyone.

  3. trendlover- a lucky trader will resort back to gambling at some point of their Combine. If they choose to gamble on a day they are not seeing the market well they most likely will hit the loss limit and disqualify themselves.

We look to separate the gamblers from the traders in the Combine. It does this well with 10 day Combine but even better with the 20 day. If you look at the criteria that needs to be met and deposit you can see that the 20 day is easier and less of a deposit. Thus the program tries to encourage those to go to the 20 day. The patient individuals or ones that tend to take things slower choose the 20 day.

Few companies are. Perhaps, then, all profit-oriented concerns should charge job applicants an "examination fee" to filter out the wannabe and offset the costs of their HR.

god will you give TST a break, you are making out that they are robbing people here and it's just not true. they are offering a genuine service, a track to run on for new traders.

and demanding answers from Michael like you matter. dude Michael is running a business he is a professional, does he really have time to respond to your girlish claims of 'it's paying for an interview'. just get over it and move on. maybe we should give you a free combine to shut you up, little point though you would probably say the rules are wrong or something.

    keep trolling mate.

    Michael,

Has Patak ever funded a trader who didnt quite meet the profit objectives, but displayed good patience, risk/reward ratio, good hit rate? Just curious.

    thanks.

  8. If you look at it as an interview then sure... But I'll defend (no I'm not a shill for them everyone can relax) M. Patak and TST here with the following...

If you wanted live data and a squack box from the CME how much would you pay depending on the service you got...?

So when you look at it that way you might be paying slightly more for this package but overall the costs for what you get with the $175.00 10 day Combine isn't entirely unreasonable. They do offer some value for their price.

I mean check out eSignal here for a comparison... http://www.esignal.com/esignal/pricing.aspx?tc=

So overall... You get a live simulator, CME commentary, market data, charts and a squack box for 30 days if you don't use up your 10 Combine days immediately.

Not that bad of a deal if you look at it that way.

  9. I can never know for sure-but a few (atticus included) are clearly real traders.........I guess it takes one to know one (this is not a negative about you, just a point about how the crap and substance on ET is as evident as night and day).

TST: The issue people have is the bucket shop like deposit (relative to what you get), and the spin that hundreds of dollars for a sim and a shrink that I guess some use requires the high price.

Note: if mav or surf want me to shut up, I will.........I don't mean to tarnish your thread.

edit.........my post above on hoaglands son, it was 2001. So, what happened? :D http://www.linkedin.com/pub/edgar-hoagland/44/821/931

  10. Austin, I'm glad to see you are doing this. It is kind of cool for me personally to see that the only people stepping up and doing this are from the very short list of people that I respect on ET.

(That comment only applies to people that represent themselves as winning traders BTW. I have all the respect in the world for someone that isn't there yet and can admit it. IE Jack Hershey types that claim success but run from any real challenge)

Anyways, I see what you did in your post and I applaud you for your sneakiness. :)

I look foward to seeing who made more on crude today, mav or austin.
