Hi Scott, I am not directly familiar with Matlab, but this page labels Matlab as using the NCSA's HDF5 library for it's DB back-end. Since I am a user of HDF5(pyTables), and consider using it for real time, I was curious as to whether this is so, and if HDF5 is incorporated in your expedient I/O algorithm. Thanks Ktm'r
Anton, Methinks that if you would know how to make serious money in the market with your ROOT/QuantStudio softs, you wouldn't have time to spam around here.
ok, I think I agree with ESignal's president who said on another thread that it doesn't worth time and money he pays to support elitetrader to flame with guys like you. ESignal has much larger revenues and yet their president advertises and talks on elitetrader personally. You can also see Medved's and others talking here. Do you really think they are here to suck another couple of bucks from you? Bye, Anton
Hello: I think all of you (vendors) are here for the same reason. Posting here, you have access to 30,000 ET subscribers, some of whom are prospective users of your products. After all, sales is a numbers game. If even a small percentage of readers decide to try your product, you have made it worth your while. The unfortunate fact is that most of the time, your products do not live up to the advertising hype. In addition they are often overpriced, and under supported (although I have to say that Esignal has improved greatly in this area). All vendors face the same challenges and are attracted by the opportunities that a captive audience of 30,000 subscribers might provide. If this were not true why would vendors ask for subscription and demographic data when evaluating ad rates in trade magazines, trades shows, and websites? So lets cut the bullshit ladies and gentlemen. The "we don't need this" line is crap. In fact, you sure as hell do need every possble new customer you can find. I think all of you need to get in touch with your client base. In general, what we want are products that do what you say they will do, without having to obtain a graduate degree in computer science to get them to work. If you can provide that and also have a support person who speaks english available by phone, you might see less "flaming" when you post. I'm not going to hold my breath. Lefty.
You are indeed right saying all this but the point is that everything has its price. My mental helth (and other "vendors" too I believe) has it's price too and sometimes "enough, I don't need this" is the real answer... without bullshit. Yes, 30.000 subscribers are fine. Let them all see a big banner at the top of every message they read... perhaps a good solution... which comes without "reply" button and possibility to say that you are a spammer. PS. You have SmartQuant's phone number in Chicago on our site. Any problems? /Anton
Amen, amen! We all know, the first trading software company to truly get in touch with the needs and wants of their client base will OWN the market for trading software. Their application would be the first traders' "KILLER APP," and we'd be flocking to their website by the thousands...
Anton: I see now that you are not a native english speaker. Part of the problem may be in the translation, or I may be clumsy in my comments. I hope that you will guard your own mental health. Ultimately our physical and mental health represents our real wealth. If in fact you value your own mental health, it may help you to realize that these "flames" also represent a tremendous opportunity. The person who posted after me has is right. The vendor who truly gets in touch with their customers will find that they have a gold mine. It will be just as though you had invented the spreadsheet or the word processor. Look at how those products are used today. In the early versions, the command structures were simple yet effective. As more customers started to use the product, the vendor added features and made sure that users could find the help they needed to make them productive. User groups were started. Authors wrote books about how to use these products. In high schools and colleges across the country, class were started to teach people to use these products. This happened because people sensed that the product was accessible, and that even without a specialized education, they could learn to make it work for them. At some point the vendor had to respond to users complaining about bugs in the programs. User input and the vendor's response to it made all the difference. One hopes that someone (perhaps you) will step up and take the initiative to do something that puts your product in a class above the rest. Best Regards, Lefty
Yes, I am not a native english speaker, I am rather a north-european english speaker Anyway what I am trying to say is that I am here to get in touch with the client base I do advertise indeed, but I also do read what you say before I post my messages and this makes it different from spamming - I listen to the customer. Regards, Anton
Hello Guys,. This thread is on how to use Matlab in Finance or how to develop a trading application. Please do not hijack this thread and use it personal bashing,.,,,,, To OHMS: I am willing to collaborate and develop a front end application. I have already statrted doing exactly the same, but my mBA studies and Job are giving me no time to write the connectors to real time tick data... Thanks...
You sound at least as phoney as some other peddlers of worthless stuff on this board. Bulshitting about CERN to jack up your credibility. Please go away and try to establish yourself in the market by not coming over as a cheapie.
