Mathematical probability of Trade set up

  1. What do you mean by "general" trade setups?

    Because http://www.candlesticker.com (from Americanbulls et al) runs through all their patterns and percentages for confirmation, profitable, net gain, winner gain, loser loss...just be mindful of sample size. The direct answer to your question (regarding only entry) would be the confirmation percentage, but if you take that one step further to include the exit, you get the profitable percentage (which is percentage of confirmations, not of patterns).

    I think the coolest thing about that is regional differences. For example, Shanghai and Shenzhen regularly lead the world on bullish patterns, but are middle of the pack on bearish patterns. Tokyo routinely has some of the narrowest margins on profitability both directions (ironic since it's where candle sticking comes from). NYSE is unsurprisingly middle of the pack with no clear bias for bulls or bears on most patterns.
