to paraphrase charlie heston... gods don't kill people, people kill people. the biggest, most vicious murderers of the 20th century were atheists. brutality has nothing to do with religion - everybody, even an atheist, has a belief system - it has to do with humans being shits to each other.
and you have to blame the former for this since of those two choices only the supernaturalist has free will.
And so it seems either art has returned or we have a new pet retard, no a parrot, no a retard; surely a retarded parrot. Yey, or holy shit! Get the pic for this idiot.
The difference is.... atheism was simply an uncorrelated attribute of the murdering swine. Whereas, the theists killed IN THE NAME OF THEIR THEISM. We dont blame catholicism for Hitlers murders. We also shouldnt blame atheism for Stalins. However, we can clearly blame the crusaders who yelled IN THE NAME OF GOD, DIE HEATHEN, as they chopped your head off peace axeman
do you think what was yelled actually matters - err, mattered - to the person whose head got lopped off?
Anti-theism is different than a-theism. Atheists have no reason to kill theists. They may have other ideological reasons to do so which are not related to atheism. For example...if you kill people because you believe all the people should ONLY worship mother russia, instead of god, this has nothing to do with atheism. A simple lack of belief is not capable of compelling you to kill people. However, a theistic belief based on a bible, which tells you to kill/stone infidels, gives the theist every reason to kill infidels. ESPECIALLY if the word of god commands it. If you are asserting that they killed IN THE NAME OF ATHEISM, and not in the name of communism, like the crusaders who killed IN THE NAME of their theism, then support this case by posting some quotes by Stalin/Mao that prove this. From the catholic encyclopedia: Since the Middle Ages the meaning of the word crusade has been extended to include all wars undertaken in pursuance of a vow, and directed against infidels, i.e. against Mohammedans, pagans, heretics, or those under the ban of excommunication..... ...and, in the thirteenth century the popes preached crusades against John Lackland and Frederick II. ....All crusades were announced by preaching. After pronouncing a solemn vow, each warrior received a cross from the hands of the pope or his legates, and was thenceforth considered a soldier of the Church Of all these wars undertaken in the name of Christendom, the most important were the Eastern Crusades, which are the only ones treated in this article So please post the EQUIVALENT of the above, that shows Stalin/Mao killed theists in the name of atheism, and not for other uncorrelated reasons. peace axeman
Now that is an interesting cop-out. By the same token it matters not a whit to the guy in the electric chair why the switch is being pulled, but it sure as hell matters to those who are left behind. Only by our best understanding of WHAT happened and WHY can we move forward and prevent attrocities of all kinds. To attribute the massacres of Stalin/Mao to athiest killing theist over theological/philosophical differences shows an incredible and DANGEROUS lack of knowledge and understanding of the ethnic/racial/class cleansing that was implemented in those eras. JB PS. Excellent new book out on Stalin titled "Stalin : The Court of the Red Tsar" Get it. Read it. Fascinating. Disturbing.
