It says homicide occurs where people live, not in uninhabited places. ;)

GWB has to pretend to share the profoundly low intellect and sensibilities of the repugs to confuse them, guess we better play along :)

It does say "some" of the killings involved a bow and arrow and police are investigating other weapons used. A machete/similar would be a first guess. A crossbow which is regulated as a firearm in Norway would have been a more effective weapon for the would-be martyr.

I believe it was in Bowling For Columbine where Michael Moore asked a gun-thumper if people should have the freedom to own nukes. The guy said, "no, because of all the crazies."

It just goes to show that mentality ill and confused people will act with whatever’s at hand. The really sophisticated use planes and bombs.

Banning this or that is like putting a bandaid on a severed artery. Address the cause not the effect if you’re serious about stopping violence.

Mentally ill people should not have guns!
How do you know they're mentally ill, though?
When they shoot up a movie theater, of course.

Wait a second here, are you saying that america has more mentally ill and confused people than the rest of the western world? Or, are you saying the rest of the western world treats their mentally ill and confused people better than America?

Im confused here because we are comparing 40,000 gun deaths and tens of thousands more of gun injuries every year in America to 5 deaths in Norway as equal and it is obviously not.

You can never stop violence considering its been occurring since early humans lived in caves in the Paleolithic period. :D

We can shield ourselves from it even if/when it happens in our community...whatever we do...it will not be enough.

It's a sad reality but it's been the reality for over 2 million years.

The reality is people are trained by culture to regard certain weapons as not just preferable, but necessary. If they don't have the weapon of choice handy they give up on the idea. And the reality is that some weapons are better killing tools.

Something you put in your car is easily adapted as a proper WMD, not just a building but a city block leveled and many nearby dead from high pressure vacuum exposure but we don't talk about this because we know its foolish to put ideas in heads of unstable people.

Not one pilot was particularly surprised on 9/11 beyond it had taken so long for a terrorist to employ this.

The weapons people are trained to think they need being easily available matters. It also matters with suicides given the superiority of a gun for the task.

What we can do is lessen the danger by taking civilized precautions- like common sense gun laws to keep guns off of the street.
