Thoughtful answer. But what happens if everyone is allowed to willy-nilly wear, or not wear, distance, or not?

What happens when hospitals fill up, and your elderly relative falls, but all the beds are taken by covid freedom fighters?

Btw, your driver's auto seat belt only protects you. Do you also consider seat belt and helmet laws dictatorial creep? How does those, and mask requirements benefit dictatorship? Explain the political motivation to force such things on a whining citizenry; when they could simply have just said, eff it?

Isn't it better to keep folks, insured and otherwise, out of hospitals as much as possible, at the cost of a little inconvenience, so healthcare resources are available to the greatest extent possible, as much as possible?

    Healthcare workers wear masks.
    Other workers wear PPE daily.
    Other workers wear PPE often.
Active duty can wear face and head covers daily, depending.

No one wants to wear this stuff.

If you're a trader, or a poker player, or someone good with math, have you ran the numbers, risk to reward on everyone complying vs. willy nilly compliance?

If you're a chess player, how many moves have you look ahead when comparing, everyone complying vs. willy nilly compliance?

Practically the whole world is wearing masks. How did this become about Democrats and Trump in the US?

The world follows the lead of the US that's how this is driven by Democrat politics and their media allies.

Don't know what you mean by willy nilly. When there were no mandates, volunteer mask wearing was already near ubiquitous . Plenty people influenced by media and some more by common sense. So if I am protecting myself that is enough , and everyone else who volunteers is just frosting on the protective cake. It is not needed for my own health. They can be as willy or as nilly as they please as long as I can wear the best recommended mask I am willing to buy. All the more so if I have easy access to the known treatments, to hell with the vaccines. But no, the treatments are being blocked from easy access, so the masquerade is getting more and more bizzare. Yes, it is creeping and yes, dictatorships come about through creep, historically speaking. The lockdowns are more obviously creeping, and all because the Democrats and media allies won't speak the truth about the treatments available now.

The Philippines follows the US and is also creeping along as the screws tighten:

They are now just running out of any government ability to render any financial or food assistance. And yet, like the US, they have a huge donation of HCQ that somebody must be hoarding. They are issuing fines/tickets to people not wearing masks OUTDOORS!! All kinds of checkpoints.

Well until you can come up with an explanation why the distribution of the huge donation is not transparent at all, yes, it is being hoarded, whether you want to label that conspiracy or any other smear. By now there could be data on the distribution of millions of doses. But no, it's not transparent cause it's not happening.

No, their survival depends more on the removal of Trump . Admitting HVQ/zinc works gives Trump four more years for leading the country as expected. Let the laborers die by politics.

Peak Idiocy: Wisconsin Government Agency Mandates Facemask Use For Virtual Zoom Meetings

    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/peak-idiocy-wisconsin-government-agency-mandates-facemask-use-virtual-zoom-meetings

Preston Cole of the DNR said in an e-mail to: employees, “Also, wear your mask, even if you are home, to participate in a virtual meeting that involves being seen — such as on Zoom or another video-conferencing platform — by non-DNR staff. Set the safety example which shows you as a DNR public service employee care about the safety and health of others.”

Biden calls for mandate requiring all Americans to wear masks
    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-calls-for-mandate-requiring-all-americans-to-wear-masks

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday called for a nationwide mask mandate to help fight the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Every American should be wearing a mask when they’re outside for the next three months at a minimum,” Biden told reporters in Wilmington, Del.

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee spoke after sitting down for a briefing on the coronavirus with public health experts. He was joined at the briefing by his newly named running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris of California.

"Let’s institute a mask mandate nationwide starting immediately and we will save lives. The estimates are we will save over 40,000 lives in the next three months if that is done," Biden emphasized.

And the former vice president stressed that wearing a mask "increases exponentially the prospect that if you are a carrier and you don’t even know it, that you will not infect anyone if you cough, sneeze, sing, shout."

And pointing to the nation's death toll from the coronavirus, Biden said that "a lot of people are dying. We’re up over 160,000 people dead so far."

Biden added that "when I get occasionally confronted with a person in public about wearing a mask I say look, this is America, be a patriot. Protect your fellow citizens. Protect your fellow citizens. Step up. Do the right thing. Do the right thing."

wrong move. He doesn't even have the power yet. If he wanted to showcase how he'd be a leader during this pandemic, he could've said half a dozen different things that didn't rub people the wrong way.

How 'bout I'll fund USPS and every American will get a saliva test in the mail along w/a weekly supply of n95's until this crisis is over?

Counties with a mask mandate watch cases drop 15.1% over a 4 week period. Counties without a mask mandate have the COVID cases increase by 30.4%. over the same 4 weeks.

COVID-19 Cases Dropped 15 Percent in South Carolina Areas with Mask Mandates, Increased Without Them
South Carolina counties without a mask mandate saw COVID-19 cases increase by up to 30.4 percent

New state data is bolstering scientific research proving that masks are one of the most effective tools in halting the spread of the novel coronavirus

South Carolina’s Department of Health and Environmental Control shared data last week proving “what we already knew, wearing face masks works,” Dr. Linda Bell, S.C. State Epidemiologist said in a press release.

Health officials found that when analyzing rates of COVID-19 transmission across the state, “jurisdictions with mask requirements in place have seen an overall decrease of 15.1 percent of total cases” within the past four weeks.

Meanwhile, cases in areas without a mask mandate rose by up to 30.4 percent.

“We will be in a much better position in four to six weeks if South Carolinians practice physical distancing and use a mask,” Bell added. “Together, we can completely reverse our fortunes and create safe environments for our business recovery, for our lifestyle recovery, and particularly for our students returning to school in a few short weeks, but we must act more aggressively, and now.”

South Carolina is one of just 16 states that does not have a statewide mask mandate. As Forbes noted, the only states that have yet to issue these requirements are led by Republican governors.

Despite the lack of a statewide mandate, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster is requiring that all residents wear masks at restaurants, which are currently open for indoor dining.

Health officials in Kansas have also reported similar findings about the proven effectiveness of masks in slowing the spread of COVID-19.

Earlier this month, the state’s top official shared that while new cases had dropped in counties with a mask mandate in place, there had been no decrease in areas without one.

All improvements in case development comes from those counties wearing masks” Dr. Lee Norman said at a press conference, according to the Associated Press.

Although Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly issued a statewide mandate in July, 90 counties went on to reject the order. However, while only 15 counties have followed the mandate, the majority of the state’s population resides in those areas.

A recent study found that the N95 masks most commonly worn by healthcare workers are the most effective at preventing the spread of COVID-19, while disposable surgical masks and homemade cotton masks were also found to limit the transmission of droplets, and the best option for the average person.

Meanwhile, neck gaiters, which have become common among runners and other athletes due to their breathability, may be less effective than not wearing a mask at all.
