Platinum is just a commodity used mostly for catalytic converters, for which demand has dropped dramatically of late. Gold is money as far as I'm concerned, and I'll just hold mine, thanks... I believe your dollars will one day be worth nothing, and gold everything. A whole nation can't print and spend beyond its means forever and get away with it. Surfer, with the dollar crashing. Do you think your prediction will remain intact? I have a new short position from a pure technical point of view, but the fundamentals sure are bullish for gold.
Actually, Gold made it to my point where I wanted to short on this retracement. I am heavily short Gold with Futures and DZZ ETF. The only bearish fundamental that I have is that everyone is bullish on Gold (even myself) which usually means it is about to tank This is one of the hardest trade I have likely ever done which means it is likely the correct trade I have the staying power to hold all my postions well into 2009.
yeah, its not looking real good here. however, i remain confident in the call for now--nothing has changed that the short was based on yet, and it remains in the money good luck! surf
You're "fighting the Fed", IMO, and they run the presses. I think they'll freak if it breaks $1000 again, but otherwise they have too many other more critical problems to worry about. Trying to measure real gold in FIAT currency is hopeless. The end result will be that you are really betting on the value of the FIAT currency rather than the gold.
Soon even Surfer will be wanting DA GOLD..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDaTr8_QzdI   ....and then it will be TOO LATE!!!
Every time I watch that damn video I laugh my a$$ off.....thought you might get a kick out of it....LOL! BTW, those guys in the video are all from the NY FED branch!
