Why? Because China has responded "In the event of hostilities, China will stay neutral." DPRK's big brother just said, "Huh? Nope. [shove.] You brought this on -- you handle it yourself." Somebody change Fat Boy Un's panties. China wins; U.S. wins; Japan, Guam, South Pacific win; DPRK wins[!] -- hell the *world* wins. Market gains 0.6% on Monday, and again on Tuesday. NK is not the first small country to make big claims. Dictators do this to throw red meat to the masses. What is different this time our President is a fan of similar tactics. However, China did qualify their statement. If Trump strikes first it is on. That is what actually keeps us safe. Trump will posture, NK will threaten again and nothing will happen.
You people sound like you should be political analysts instead of traders, Wars throughout relatively recent history have had little impact on the markets,..they are merely a hiccup, The only thing that effects the markets...Are the markets -- like in 1999 and 2008, You can only squeeze a chicken so tight before its head pops. Or inhale and exhale so deeply before you experience various weird gyrations, And besides, predictions are kind of meaningless and a dime a dozen, What's more important is your ability to manage the trade, once you are thrown in, It's way too early to make a prediction anyways of how Monday will perform -- I could tell you, generally loosely speaking, how the day will perform before the opening bell rings, (but not now)
No China ALWAYS stays neutral as long as they are not touched. The last time they got involved in the 1950's was because General MacArthur had the brilliant idea of going into the Chinese territory by crossing the Yalu River thinking "since we are so close to China why don't we go into China and get rid of those commie sons of b*****. That's when China decided to go into North Korea to join in the fight to ward off the American advances and aid NK at the same time. This time, it would still be the same. As long as the Americans stay away from the Yalu River, not attack China in anyway, China would stay out. China has other fish to fry.
I smell fear. Most traders cant even predict what they will do next. "Those who have knowledge don't predict. Those who predict don't have knowledge." -Lao Tzu, 6th Century BC.
China said if US attacks first, they will defend NK, but if NK attacks first, they will remain neutral, passive aggressive I guess.
