IMO everybody is I would say equally racist especially when things get tough. This is why I don't think it's a good idea to force people to take a holiday when people could be making money.
Yes There is no harm in commemorating the end of slavery, that's true. But there is all the harm in forcing people to take a holiday in commemorating it especially when there is already a holiday commemorating something similar. That's the problem.
Because the whole thing is, at bottom, about subverting Western/European civilization, and ultimately sending it to the dustbin of history via the Great Replacement. Factual appraisals and honest historical narratives don't enter into it. The American South c. 1860 was an aberration precisely because Europeans decided half a century before that chattel slavery was immoral, and worked diligently to end it. In the USA, 300,000 whites died in the Northern armies fighting to end it. That's not the narrative they want you to learn, either.
You know, I forgot that whites were slaves also. The black people seem to also forget this fact. They are all about ME ME ME. As a white person, where are my reparations from Rome when they enslaved MY ancestors to establish the Western Empire?
Exactly! Both whites and blacks born in this country have a monkey on their back. Their ancestors were slaves, and they were enslaved by them. So who deserves more money? Whites, or blacks?
In my experience, and in my observations of the world, there's a huge gulf between sub-Saharan Africans and "everyone else". It's there literally wherever you look: socioeconomic measures across various countries & regions, crime rates, historical achievements, current performance both inside and outside of academia, and the unstated but universally-shared commonsense stereotypes and rules of thumb that "everyone else" follows, based on their own life experiences. In the USA, eliminating these gaps is an extremely high priority for the liberal elite, and has been so for going on 50 years. It would be fantastic if they could indeed be closed, but I've got a dark suspicion that it ain't going to happen. Considering Africa's population is going to triple or more by the end of the century, it's a problem that not just the USA but the whole world will need to grapple with.
I think I was trying to say that the American slave trade was not just the fault of WASP slave buyers, but also the African sellers of said slaves. It is not like WASP explorers came into Africa and just rounded up black people like cattle. The African tribal leaders owned the slaves, and sold them to whitey. So they are also guilty! Here we are today, placing all of the blame on the African slave trade, and the existence of black slaves in America, on white people. But the Black people in Africa were also complicit in the slave trade! Nobody EVER says anything about that! Why? Is that racist?
