One thing is certain, racist people are the most frustrated. Sexual repression? Wish you had a bigger dick? Some Jonny Foregneir giving the orgasms to your wife (or husband) that you never did? Racial bias is one thing and it's true is pretty common. But showing it off with irony or hate makes it racist, having a propaganda or agenda or using derogatory words toward someone just because of how they look like... is sick, and not just ignorant. Regarding the holidays, if you complain about an extra day of holiday, and you are not struggling to make ends meet... your life outside work must be pretty sad and boring.
If it matters that much to you then why aren't you bitching about all of the other market closing holidays? There's enough of them for you to work yourself into a froth.
Martin Luther King Jr. already has a holiday, now this Juneteeth thing for essentially the same thing.
But getting away with it is easier if you're black and get media attention because no-one wants to be called racist.
Up until about 20 years ago, when a woman claimed assault, it was a chore to get anyone to listen unless the attacker was not white and the woman was. In the intervening years, there was a movement #metoo to #believeallwomen. A woman claimed something, it was believed and the man was destroyed whether or not it was true. With Johnny Depp and Amber Heard the culture now has an understanding that women lie too. I do not disagree with the assessment that you have made: people are afraid to call out certain minorities for fear of appearing racist. But I analogize it to the same movement. Is society better off after the #metoo movement? In my opinion, yes. First of all, women are taken more seriously. And with the Amber Heard bullshit, we also now know that bitches be crazy too. So net result, women are taken more seriously but we don't automatically believe their story without investigation. So in my opinion, the net result after some time may be that black people are treated better in the future, which is good for society. The other side of this is: who loses power? In the case of women, it was obviously guys like Harvey Weinstein. Is anyone here going to disagree that people like that should not have power? If he had to use his own charm and appearance to lay women, he probably wouldn't be so fat. In the case of blacks, racists and those who had unchecked power before (law enforcement, government bureaucrats, good ol boys) will be dragged kicking and screaming into the new regime. I'm not particularly worried about either of those demographics who lose power. I want my black (white, brown, purple and green) friends to be treated well by default. The end.
Not necessarily. Some people, perhaps @TheDawn is one, love this stuff so much they immerse themselves in it. No different than any other successful, driven, over achieving type. You can have a balance between work and play, and still bitch about when you can't work. Especially if you look at work as fun. I'm not a big fan of 3 day weekends either. I hate em.
