Since this is an election year, Iâm curious if the market will be affected, and if so, how?

Obama will likely win the democratic nomination, but bittergate will hurt him against McCain. once it becomes more obvious that McCain will win the market will react favorably.
Years ending in "8" tend to be bullish. We'll see.
Concerns over a recession has caused the Fed to drastically reduce its rate in an effort to stimulate the economy. Though it is predicted the US dollar will strengthen during the first part of 2008, the unstable financial environment faced by US citizens may affect the market and trades.
The week following the Pope leaving the US tend to be bearish.
Sell in May go away.
Markets going into a summer Olympics in a Communism country are bullish.
Fall is usually Bearish.
