In his book "Mind over Markets" Jim Dalton mentions his website. I tried to contact it, unfortunately it appears to be out of order. Does anybody know where Jim Dalton can be contacted on the web? Suggestions for other advisory services based on Market Profile are welcome too. Thanks.

  3. I used to use Market Profile scans all the time when I was on the CBOT floor. I haven't used them for years till a few weeks ago when I found them on First Alert. I now have a market profile on each chart I run.

The basic idea behind Market Profile is you are dividing the day into letters and numbers with each period being assigned a certain letter. For Each time period anywhere it trades it produces a letter. By the middle of the day you should have a bell curve. Sometimes you will see an area the market hasn't had much action in. Especially during the slow hours this area is a magnet for where the market should go.

It tends to look like this.

Example of a perfect Market profile
    C
    BBC
    ABC
    ABCFHLM
    ACFGHILM
    ACEFGHIJLM
    ADEFGHIJKLM
    ADEFGHJIKMP
    DEGHIJMNOPQR
    DGHMNOPQR
    GHMNOPQR
    NOPQR
    NOPR
    NO
    N

and so forth filling in the spaces.

Sometimes though I see this with Market Profile

Example of a unperfect Market profile

    C
    ABCDSTV
    ABCDSTVWXY
    ABCDSTVWXY
    ABCDRUWXY
    ABCDRUY
    ABDR
    ABDR
    ADLR
    ADLMOQ
    ADGHIJKLMNOPQ
    ADFGHIJKLMNOPQ
    AEFGHIJKLMNPQ
    AEFGIJKLP

Now this is the exact oppositive of a bell curve. It has traded a lot in the lower range and a lot on the higher range but there is gravity towards the middle. Where the R is in the profile

    It has two possibilites.

is the other one. It will hit resistance. The third possiblity (but very rare) it would break a lot lower and start another bell curve down there.

  6. Does anyone have any experience with emini.org? These guys seem to be hardcore profile.

    Appreciate any feedback.

    Don't bother, it's crap.

  8. I understand that Dalton is now employeed and his contract does not allow for outside work.

  9. he used to offer an IM service. pretty pricey, but the updates were live and ongoing, which would be nice. i took a trial, but didn't try it out.

  10. Prox,

May I clarify? Is the Market Profile crap or the emini.org service?

I would be curious to know what your reasons are?

    Thank you,

    UKX
