Market / OPG orders at IB: Do they work?

Don Bright promotes a trade on here and elsewhere, whereby one looks for an order imbalance on an NYSE stock (lots of different NYSE stocks, actually) and essentially takes the specialist's side with an "open only" order. (If I have that quick, short summary wrong, please correct me, Don) My question: Using IB's method of lodging this trade (pre-opening, click Market for the Type of Order and OPG as Time in Force), will you get the same results as one of Don's traders, using, I presume, proprietary software, and maybe a market-maker-like access. Anyone on IB try it?

If you want to participate in the opening, you need to make sure you direct your orders to the NYSE. The IB default is SMART routing. If you do a search of "opening orders" you will get about a million hits :D

The strategy is explained in detail in some of the older "Don's Openings & more" threads. Good luck
