Don't you think the easiest way to manipulate is to buy the underlying, sell the leveraged derivatives, then dump the underlying at higher prices.
Look at the past two day's reaction to the the worst RE inventory numbers in 20 years. Look at the reaction from 3:20 yesterday to 10:20 today.
