not a common book but there are copies of it floating around.

it outlines all the rules they abide by - and the ones they break!

The NYSE publishes a book of all the rules that govern how the exchange operates. I haven't been able to find out how to get it from the website, but maybe if you called the exchange you could get a copy.

  5. the books by Christopher A. Farrell. I'm NOT recommending the strategies in the books 'cause they were designed for a time long since passed, but much of the info about the specialist system is fairly up-to-date. Best of all, they are pretty cheap books.

  7. You can obtain a copy of the NYSE Guide. If you want the full version, be prepared to shell out around $800 for the full version.

For just the Constitution and Rules section they ask $40. Not clear on whether this will contain the order handling rules or if you'll need the full version above.

For the AMEX you can buy it at this place but I believe their rules are also published on their web site free of charge. Forget free when it comes to the NYSE. You'll have to pay for it at the above links, unless there's a wayo r section at nyse.com I don't know about.
