Midknight, For other software charts, usually there's the minimize and close button on the upper right hand corner. I do not see any minimize button on the upper right hand corner. Are you saying yours have it or is the minimize button based on a keystroke. Thanks
Hi billp, Yes, I'm saying mine has those buttons there....minimize, maximize, close in the top right corner.
I've been in correspondence with IRT & MD fellas about these delta issues and alerted them of this thread, they wrote me a response that should be shared with you guys. Kind regards, MK ** RESPONSE ** In regards to the learning curve....no question there is a learning curve involved in making the change to the new software. There is a learning curve with any software program, and this is certainly no exception. Over the coming months, there is no doubt that Trevor will smooth out that curve substantially as he ramps up his support infrastructure (videos, etc) and knowledge of the new platform, and as Chad makes some fundamental changes to the software to simplify things for MarketDelta users. The new platform does offer a GREAT deal more than the old. If you decide never to venture further than the footprint charts, then there's really not a whole lot to learn, and you'll still be getting a great deal of value. For those that want to explore further, bite off a little at a time as you explore the functionality that is now available. But at the core value of Market Delta, is still the unique analysis and representation of volume. Look especially for continued innovation upon the patent-pending footprint representation of volume that Market Delta is built upon. You will already see some nice new features in 8.5.4 coming out soon. And the strengths that Trevor brings (hands-on support, education, and careful documentation) combined now with an active and responsive development team (Chad/Bill), should be something we think users will really come to enjoy over the next few months. In regards to a few of your technical concerns. As for the descrepancies pointed out by bolter...we have uncovered a change made to version 8.5.3 that is likely accounting for this. It has to do with some rounding of prices in trades that come into the chart in realtime. It's being handled differently than trades that are loaded off the database. The net effect is that realtime deltas tend more to the positive side, at least for certain symbols. And this problem does not seem to be an issue for ES, ER, etc, but does seem to surface for some eurex symbols such as ET. Regardless, I am aware of the issue, have identified it, and I believe I have corrected it. We will verify and test and get a new release out soon, possibly even later today. For the user who saw different highs between two chart types. Is it possible that one chart was set to the 24hr session (session 31) while the other was set to the RTH session (session 2). Is it possible that the high came from an overnight high. Some other things to look for coming in 8.5.4.....an option to specify custom delta levels for shading, in addition the current automatic shading. The Open/Close bar seen to the left of each bar becomes optional. The gridlines, as well as the borders around each cell will become optional, and gridlines can be drawn at any user-defined interval of prices. For those of you struggling with the learning curve, we encourage you to hang in there and see how things will only get better. Everyone involved is very committed to supporting, developing, and innovating Market Delta and we are very optimistic of all the great things to come and the stories that will be shared. One last note, this thread has primarily focused on a few temporary negative issues that will soon be resolved. If you could be on our side and hear the great feedback and excitement coming from a majority of the users you would leave with a different perspective. Temporary problems will come and go, but a dedicated support team with experience, knowledge, and committent is difficult to come by in this often impersonal work of trading. Sincerely, The MarketDelta Team ** END OF RESPONSE **
billp, Just thinking on this a little more. Is the chart you want to maximize/minimize in floating mode? If so then you are correct, those buttons are not available when floating. Kind regards, MK
I just heard from Trevor - a new relase will available today to fix the footprint issue. Word of advice for MP/MD users - in Setup | Prefrences | Charts | General - ensure that auto downlaoding is disabled. This will prevent tick data being overwritten automatically when you open (say) a 1 min chart that is not fully populated. Also, FWIW, I have validated that I/RT captures data (including ticks) correctly form eSignal. Might save someone some time. bolter
Midknight. Thanks for posting that response. I find it rather odd that they're saying "if you get no further than the footprint chart etc." This brings us, almost, back to where we started. BillP. Have a look and see whether you've got the floating window option ticked. I left this on which caused the problem you're having. Once unticked. you can minimise or resize the chart. I really do hope they can sort this out. Every day, something untoward happens with the new MD.
Very helpful thread, thanks to bolter, MK, and 5P. I will hang in there with MD and give it more time for me to learn and for them to iron out the bugs. Like I said in my first post earlier in this thread, the new version looks very promising (once the bugs are worked out). Like others here, I'm no programmer or engineer, so wrestling with new software is not how I like to spend my time when not trading, but MD is unique and will I try my best to work with it.
