    MK,
Your spurious delta values seem to be data related (ie: vendor). The cumulative delta confirmed the move on my chart (esignal data).

  2. Thx bolter - I've been online with DTN tech support on this. No response but I wont clutter the thread anymore with useless rants on the subject - I'll start a new one for that LOL :p

    Bolter,

I use Market Profile to swing trade (time frame would be from 1 to 10 days). Do you think that MD would provide any value to judge how well the market is facilitating trade using 30min MD bars?

  4. ...I have something to mention.

I've been an IRT user for 5 years now.Market Profile trader for 33 months.I use TPO charts along with filtered buy/sell volume slapped on a bar chart with VB.I actually only recently started using the VB version.Reason being is that I need to keep one bar chart open for every instrument I trade because I place and manage my trades right on the chart which is tied into NT5's ATI. I don't use averages, smoothing or anything of the sort on VB, although I do understand how some of you may find value in applying it that way. I came up with the original idea of splitting trades done on the ask vs bid in IRT but it was used as BVOL-AVOL which is still part of IRT's RTL language.Might as well mention I was also a major player in getting the TPO charts to the level they now are. I didn't think they would eventually want to license them from the CBOT though! I wanted to keep them secret. :D More power to Linnsoft and Chad because since the TPO/MP and MD additions they have been pretty busy. And no I don't get a cut or any special favors other than occasionally being asked for my input on a feature that is about to be added. That of which I am grateful. What I did get from Chad and Bill is 99% of the requested features and tools I've asked for, to make IRT what it is today. They are to me the best charting software company around. They will consider and most probably add any sane well thought out ideas.

Now that introductions are in order, more to the point...

I feel that what I am about to say will have some credibility. I was not involved in any of the MD development other than the original plain jane custom- indicator BVOL-AVOL as I've mentioned earlier. In setting up the original custom-indicator I used IB and or MyTrack as my data feed and it's direction was opposite to my buddy's DTNIQ data feed direction. So much so that we felt it unreliable. Mine would show the net volume going up on trades done on the ask(green and rising) thinking it was aggressive buyers while his DTNIQ feed would show the net volume dropping as the trades were done on the bid( red and declining) thinking this was an abundance of supply being dumped and at any moment the market would drop. Never happened. I don't know what it is about DTNIQ but something just isn't right or consistent in the way that they report the trades done on the bid vs ask. Yes sometimes both our net volume direction would agree. Tried syncronizing our CPU clocks.Same result.

Finally I have yet to find anyone to show me "live" how they use MD to trade where it lends support to thier trade decisions.I just don't have the eyes to follow it, it's too damn fast! After the fact charts just don't count for me.

Decent thread Bolter..I think we spoke once or twice about MP last spring..not exactly sure.

P.S. Looks like at the end of the month I will be switching to E-Signal for accurate trade reports no one else seems to offer.

I may well live to regret this. but here goes .....

We have a chat room where myself, kiwi_trader, MK and 5 or 6 other guys hang out. A few of us use I/RT and trade using MP and MD, but the rest of the guys are doing all sorts of different things. And we all seem to trade different markets - in Asia, Europe and the US. So there is usually stuff going on most hours of the day. Although it did start out as an Asian chat room, so that's when it tends to be most active. I'm around during the US session, but don't post much because I'm busy trading.

It is and will remain a non-commercial room. We mainly all hang out, swap ideas and support one another. Some people call their trades - but most don't. It runs in Ensigns free eChat (thanks Howard).

kiwi-trader and I are the administrators and love an excuse to boot someone who is offensive, annoying, selling stuff, asking stupid questions or otherwise disruptive.

If you're a serious trader and would like to hang out with us send an e-mail to spikesingapore@gmail.com. If we get too many requests we will screen candidates in some fashion - we definitely don't want noobies, lurkers or non-traders.

  7. Hi Daniel,

If it is OK with you, may I direct DTN to your post as well? I spent some time with their tech support and they assured me that they where matching CQG and Rueters feed. Amazing rally in bund that those guys where selling all the way up - NOT. Maybe if more people aside from me reported the problem they would pull finger. Let me know and I'll start a post on DTN support forum lobbying that they do some serious investigation.

I may have to switch too like yourself. DTN has such great customer service (you can actually get someone to talk to within a minute!) that I would like to give them a bit more of a shot.

    Kind regards,
    MK

P.S. are you mptrading from JPs room? If so - hi there.

  8. Hey Midnight....sure go ahead,let them know.

Nope not him but I have spoken to mptrading a few times in Linnsoft's tuesday meetings. I've been in JP's room only for a few days over a year ago. Since before I rebuilt my pc and have not bothered to install Paltalk again.

  9. Hey bolter..thanks for invite.

Coincidentally I was about to add the Euro, NKD and Yen to my setup and a room like yours sounds just about right.

    MK,

FWIW, there is a difference between the backfill from CQG and DTNIQ. These differences do not affect my kind of trading. However, I do not use MD.

If data integrity is important to your indicators and you are worried about these type of things (and they do not get fixed at DTN). You might want to do some research before you switch.

I know traders that are running MD software

    http://marketdelta.com/default.aspx

They all are using it with TT and or CQG (you can use IB as well...I think??). I used CQG for many years and it is considered expensive for the average trader (there was not much of a choice back in the day). I know guys using MD with TT and they are happy as well.

As far as E-signal's data, I have not used them in years. But the last time I priced it out, I was using CQG and E-Signal was damn near as costly. Although, E-signal may be very cost effective now for only a couple exchanges???

Only advice, do some homework and try some things out before you disrupt your trading or add unnecessarily to your overhead. DTNiq was some new feed technology and they should NOT be that far off for MD.

How does IB work with Linsoft?
