Can someone out there toss out the best vendors that do market data solutions and delivers prices / updates in a few microseconds? Where I work, we have some inhouse, shitty feeds with a lot of variability and I'm not sure the programmers know what they are doing. Has anyone done a cost-benefit analysis of hiring a decent programmer (a senior guy, @$250k/yr or more) vs buying one of these off-the-shelf solutions? I realize home-brew is faster, but the time involved to do it right and design the proper solution could take so long it's impractical for all but the biggest firms. I basically want connectivity to just the equity exchanges. A list of 5 or 6 vendors ought to be enough.
