One of the other issues just happened for the 2nd time this morning, which is the platform locking up when I do a save after a few adjustments in preparing for the day.
Hi Tango, If you have this issue, you must have the same lagging of data. Booktrader is not synchronical with real time data. Sometimes there is a lag of 5-10 minutes. I can see this whenever the market hits a new HighOfDay/LowOfDay. I stop trading futures with interactive brokers because of this. Can you imagine to have to trade only from T&S and from charts of a different broker. I hope we are the only 2 in the world, cause sometimes it feels like they are acting as MM-ers, to front-run my orders. Market orders gets filled at crazy prices, and "Close Position" hotkey is not working, they don't even try to help solving this issue. I've complaint many many times, I even begged them to, if possible, "reset the system in my account" but they don't seem to care. I have done and tried everything, new Fiber cable connection, new computer, new windows, cross-tested everything but the problem still persists, especially when US markets open, "market data connection lost/re-established" every 5 second. Today I am even here to look for a new broker. After more than 18 years, I am really disappointed to have to look for another broker. Maybe some one in here can give me a tip about a better broker than IBKR pro. I trade sometimes up to amount of 6 figures, but most of the time with 5 figures at the time, so I am not the typical Robinhood trader (no offence). I have to wait and see how everything works after I have only 1 IBKRpro account left, so nobody can point the finger to each other (IBKR and Introducing IBKR broker) but I am already looking for another broker, cause I don't really have any hope anymore. IBKR, doesn't care for a customer more or less I guess
Tango, If you are trading futures only, I suggest you use Ninja Trader Brokerage. Very good, very reliable, and charting is also very ok. I don't trade futures anymore cause I had an API connection with IBKR as well, and with the march crash, I had some bad experience with futures trading, and it has nothing to do with my trading, but more IBKR related, when I look back now. Good Luck
As others have posted in this topic, a VPS is crucial when you need to get serious about live trading and cannot afford data connection problems. The cost of a VPS pays for itself when it saves you from platform crashes at the most crucial times. 4GB server only cost $2 per day, less than the cost of round trip commission on a single contract. Would highly recommend checking out https://www.ninjamobiletrader.com/ They have a free trial and setup servers immediately. The marketing is towards NinjaTrader, but it works with TWS and any other windows software. I use NinjaTrader for futures trading and TWS for day trading options on the VPS.
