Market close plays

  1. There are a bunch of different opening plays that people play and I always read people playing the close but I have yet to come accross a stategy for the close(i'm new). Do people just trade the close because volume picks up or are there closing stategies that are like the opening stategies?

  2. closes are pretty much d.o.a.

  3. (1) You'll tend to sleep better if you start the day "flat" and you'll be able to respond more objectively to how the market opens with a "clear head". (2) If you want to initiate positions on-the-close, focus on the contracts that don't have overnight electronic trading, i.e. meats, softs & fibers. In my opinion, these contracts have truer follow-thru the next day based on yesterday's close. You may want to avoid holding Cotton positions over the weekend during the Summer. Keep in mind, some of your trades will be winners and some will be losers. Don't let the losers get too big. Start small and give it a try. (3) If you're a night owl, trade the German Bund & DEX.
