Bottom seems near - don't tell that to DIA holders Dow 30 made a new lower low/low for the year today.
%% MAY exceed that for QQQ+ IWM, maybe not in MAY, LOL; SPY went down about 60% in 2008. I'm expecting OCT to be a ''bear killer '' anyway
Yer a very funny guy. What I mean by this is, is that there will be no bottom until the Fed crashes the economy. When 2018 came about, Powell tried to make a name for himself during the first year of his term and started raising rates. It failed, because he did not NEED to raise rates. The markets wobbled, and Trump pressured him to back off. And he did. He stopped the rate hiles, and the markets soared. This time, Powell has no choice, because we have inflation and all this other crap along with it, such as inability to trade their personal accounts. And no Trump pressuring through Twitter. Ever hear of a slow burn? It is happening before our very eyes, RIGHT NOW. 30% drop in SP back in March 2020 was a shock, with a V recovery. Here we are, 5 months into the year, and we have been GRINDING lower since Jan 3rd, and thanks to Putin after his late Feb invasion we will keep grinding lower. The bull market will not resume until QE comes back, which will not happen until mid-2023 at this point.
If most people thinking we are nowhere near the bottom is a contrarian indicator, then judging by this thread, we are near a bottom LOL
When hacks on cable TV say, we are at capitulation, watch out. These guys have no clue what capitulation looks like. There must be extreme, serious pain for investors and traders to capitulate. The stockmarket has not even dropped enough and there are still buyers stepping up and buying on the dips. Smart money does not buy when a stock is still falling. It makes no sense. Only clueless retail traders and investors do it. They think a stock that used to be $150 and now $50 is a huge bargain. Not when the costs of production of companies are going up thru massive inflation. Profit margins are squeezed and layoffs coming. That is not even counting the supply chain problems of getting their materials to their factories. Stockcharts indicate a lot of these stocks are still headed lower. When you buy these stocks, you are trading against the major trend.
When a poster who ignores everyone they do not agree with starts giving advice like the above, it is time to batten down the hatches, and expect a new wave of ignores. That's about the value smallfil bring to this forum. Smalfil, please have a steaming hearty cup of STFU. Kthanksbye
