Thank you all for the quality replies. Yes I am looking for more of an end-of-day scanner to help spot trends (or swings in trends) for the next day. I am a beginner technical investor (I like to chart) and find myself relying on specific indicators and oscillators and was wondering what the rest of you charters use to help spot possible movement. I will use a 3 day 5 minute time frame for day trades and a 10 day with 30 minute time frame for long positions. I like to have a 26 day and 12 day EMA overlay and I also rely heavily on the MACD indicator along with a slow stochastic to report overbought or oversold conditions and then wrap it up with a volume chart. Is this combination sufficient or are there better? Why? Thanks again for the info...
Take a look at CQG - http://www.cqg.com/Products/CQG-API.aspx. It's got access to the real time, historical and analytical functions. There is plenty end of day data provided with it as well.
If you want to get dirty with the programming, you can always access yahoo finance for data. Otherwise, I would recommend Telechart from Worden http://tc2000.com/. Clean data for $20 to $30 a month. Now you can pick up some open source TA libraries on the net. Or just use a good platform such as Amibroker or Wealth lab to code. Both have excellent scanners.
http://quotes-plus.com/joomla/index.php QP works for me for almost a decade for EOD combo QP + wealth-lab or amibroker should work. QP is 26$ a month..they do have API, so you can use it in your own applications http://www.wealth-lab.com/cgi-bin/WealthLab.DLL/getpage?page=WLD3.htm
Take a look at www.NinjaTrader.com You can program custom indicators and strategies using .NET framework with C# or VB.net.
